I just saw the trailer, and it looks amazing!

Jason Statham seems to have found a winning formula in recent films (including the excellent Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre) - the badass action guy with deadpan humour.

Are you a fan of Statham or this particular genre of movies too? What are some of your favourites?

I loved Lock Stock but I'm not a fan of action movies. I find them a bit silly, and that's what I think he tends to be in.

Not a fan. He seems to play the same character/acts the same in every movie I’ve seen him in. Although I did enjoy Hobbs and Shaw.

He's an action star, after all! Why do you find them silly? For being unrealistic?

I'm happy to suspend disbelief in the case of media, so it doesn't bother me.

Hobbs and Shaw was great, wasn't it? He had great chemistry with Dwayne Johnson.

I guess I'm agreeing with your conclusion in the post, although I like him for that reason - it's a dependable trait - I know I'll like his character

Yes, it's the lack of reality but also that they are quite samey. Fist fights, car crashes, shoot-outs, people jumping from one vehicle to another. It just bores me, especially when it's so implausible.

I can suspend reality in some cases but I don't like serious things to look ridiculous, and most action movies are absurd. I find things that are like real life more relatable and interesting.
