If it's worth staying here.
We know our ages don't help in meeting people but, we do like to chat with people here that's on the same wavelength. However, going into chat rooms sometimes is like entering a graveyard. People are there but will not speak. It's really frustrating. Anyone feel the same? |

Have chat rooms had their day?
The ones I used to go in years ago the chat happened way too quickly and you couldn’t keep up and conversations got lost / overtaken.
Even private convos became difficult to juggle if you had too many.
Is that still the case? |

The chat rooms probably don't really work for most people who visit them I think, and they are only used by a tiny fraction of fabbers. The best part is the video chat imo (which is computer-only I think, and obviously not for everyone) and suing the 'direct messages' within it. But you can message someone via general messaging anyway, and in a much less fussy way the last time I looked.
In terms of whether Fab is 'worth staying on', I'd say you'd just need consider what you might save in monetary terms, along with anything else you might gain by leaving it. And then just weigh that up against staying.
It seems to me that most people just stay on here, explore the site (the Search and the fora etc) and just see what happens. I think regular time given to Browse/Search is the key to the Fabs myself, especially if you are (or become) a bit niche.

I think the chat rooms are great but it depends which ones you use, and it does take some effort and a bit of patience to get people to respond to you. I've made friends for life through the chatrooms, and when I really need support some have been absolutely priceless. |
