Reports that some food banks are rationing baby formula milk due to increasing demand. Women simply cannot afford to feed their babies. Could this stimulate the return of the wet nurse. Ladies who breast feed helping others for free or for payment. Do fab ladies like the idea or would do it. It's all over the news |

Healthy start vouchers that some parents may receive do not even cover the cost of a tin of formula
Not all food banks offer formula either. There are no laws against it but Unicef guidelines caution against it as babies may receive the wrong type of formula |

"Parents are also diluting baby formula to make it last longer …… this shouldn’t be happening
Some are using cow milk too
In Scotland they are using coos milk"
Cows milk shouldn’t be introduced till 12 months old |

I think wet nurses are a great thing and there should be something that can be done for those that create too much milk to donate in a safe way for those who can't breastfeed. I struggled to produce much milk and had to combi feed then my son also had a dairy allergy. What's killing me now on costs is the alpro growing up milk, it's gone up to £2.10 a litre and the growing up milk is recommended until they are 3. The normal soy milk is 50p a litre. |

I know ‘breast is best’ but it would be really helpful and going by some of the comments healthier and safer for infants, if the healthy start vouchers did include formula. |

Healthy start vouchers do include formula but often not the full cost of the tin |

Ah ok, this is good then. It’s been years since I’ve had to buy formula. I dread to think what they cost these days. |
