I've heard a beautiful cover on an advert for BBC Radio of Unchained Melody by a group called The Fleetwoods. I much prefer it to the other versions I've heard. Which cover to you prefer to the original version of a song? |

Van Halen's version of Ice Cream Man is massively superior to the original by John Brimm.
Infact, all their covers are pretty awesome.
Leslie West does a great cover of I Feel Fine by the Beatles and also Theme For An Imaginary Western by Jack Bruce.
I could go on for hours, I love a good cover version... |

Johnny Cash's cover of The Beatles' In my life. I want it at my funeral.
Johnny Cash made any song sound good. I wish he were alive to sing Katie Meluah's The Closest Thing to Crazy. |

Everyone always talks about his cover of Hurt, but my personal favourite is his cover of U2's one. I loathe the original but love what he has done to it.

I much prefer The Rolling Stones version of "Come On" to the Chuck Berry original. Also Small Faces take on "What's a matter baby" is better than the Timi Yuro original. |

Nina Simone covering My Sweet Lord
Members of the black crowes and jellyfish in a one time band on a live LP Crows from the Closet of a troubadour gig back in the early 1990s covering Blind Faiths Presence of the Lord
Hendrix playing Creams Sunshine of our Love live on the Lulu show, just after the album came out
And the most infamous, Natalie Imbruglia singing Torn, after she told Chris Evans that she wrote it... Didn't she realise you could buy the Norwegian original? |

"Joe Cockers version of A little help from my friends"
My mate played bass on that !
Pink does a fantastic job of Bohemian Rhapsody on one of her live DVD's...worth it to hear the operatic section actually done live, which Queen never did.
Actually, she does a fair job of Zeppelin's Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You (another cover of a cover, of a cover !) on the same DVD.

Otis Redding's "I can't get no satisfaction" is good - not necessarily better than the Stones, just different, and always makes me smile as it seems like payback, an acknowledgement and a reference to just how much the Stones drew on blak american music and culture for their own success. |

Now all I can hear is his voice in my head! Haven't listened to him in years, so that's tomorrow sorted!
Wasn't The Beatles Twist and Shout a cover? Brings back memories of dancing in The Cavern Club when I was 13
Agree that Johnny Cash has done some superb covers, and actually, with his style, it'd be easy to think he'd done the originals and U2, NIN etc had 'ruined' JC's work! |

He's an awesome artist. Be it in stone sour or slipknot. A lot of people say "Oh he's just shouting and i can't understand what he's saying". You can if you listen properly.
I love his spoken word stuff on stone sours first 2 albums. Not heard the newest one |
