Yes it is common - I have been exactly the same. I have used the forums to ask people what to expect, wear etc and plan to go with a friend so I have someone to chat to if I feel initially shy and / or out of my depth. |

Why not start with one of the socials off this site.
You know what the people are all about and if you have been talking to some of them or following them in the forums, then you won't feel so strange.

The 10th of feb was ment to go but could not get there due to lack of transport and as it happened my son moved in that day lol but I want to go but afraid to go on my own. I do want to meet the people I have spoken too on here as everyone has been most welcoming.  |

if you can go in to a pub alone you'll be ok in a club - if not i'd not bother, just mingle and chat and don't expect anything just because you've paid - relax - they're usually full of friendly people! Z |

I think most people who go on their own, especially first time round, will suffer with some nerves. Some are just better at hiding it. I feel a bit sorry for single guys on this one because women (well many of us) like men to be confident so it is a bit of a double whammy.
I d say think of worst case scenario, what is the worst that can happen? Perhpas that you dont get to meet or play! Nothing worse can happen really. and that most guys would feel similar.
Then get your nicest after shave out and go, walking tall  Good luck xx |

Aw thank you I have bags of confidence normally. I have been to chams before but both times I had the pleasure of company. Just a bit apprehensive going on my own lol |
