Is there a book you’ve always wanted to read or tried to read but really struggle with it?
Or is there a recommendation for a great book?
From a young age I have tried to read Lord of the Rings and just can’t get in to it. Same as Les Mis, that priest went for a long walk!
I like all the old classics to read. The Kraken especially |

Same..
I read every book in the school except LOTR.. the writing style of The Hobbit is just painful for me
I tried again about 15 years ago when I bought the book set for my own children.. but nope.
(They couldn't get into it either) |

I read The Lord of the Rings and really struggled but I loved The Hobbit, Children of Hurin is better than both though. |

'The Wake' set in the 11th century and a hybrid of modern and Old English. The style of prose is interesting at first but distracting from the main plot
I hate being defeated by it. It was a gift and the person who bought it is constantly smug that I've still yet to finish it! |

I really wanted to read Miss Smilla's Feeling For Snow but I just couldn't get past the first few pages. There are many others I would have liked to have read too. Then someone said that it doesn't matter if you don't read the popular books or the great classics, it's supposed to be enjoyable not a duty. So I stopped trying and just read what I like now and if I get twenty pages in and don't like it, I give it to the charity shop. |

you need an amazing imagination to read Lord of the rings and stamina, it is a very thick book, I found the films far more exciting
