Every now and then I see a thread which is obviously satire. I don’t think it always translates well. Would you say you were good at spotting them or do you take the bait?

I pretty much exclusively respond with sarcasm so I think I'm pretty safe

Do we need to bring back the "/s" so people know what's sarcasm and what's not?

"Poe's law is dead."

Poe's law is an adage of internet culture saying that, without a clear indicator of the author's intent, any parodic or sarcastic expression of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of those views.

I mean probably, but we'll also get the people who say they don't follow netiquette, so we still won't know. Outrage sells. Sex sells. Together... economy saved, good job everyone. Or something.

I tend to stay away from those until it's been clearly established as satire.

Written format doesn't always convey well attempts at humour.

Sometimes. People see what they want to see not what others intended.

Think I'm gonna be outraged pretty soon. Not quite sure what I'll be outraged about but can feel it bubbling away underneath.

Satire has played and important part in social commentary and reflection since ancient Greece.

It's also hilarious but that's subjective of course.

I think it's a loss culturally.

If the Fab Forå was anthropomorphised into classical Greek, it would be a Satyr.

I'm probably 80/20 on spotting them (in my favour) but I'll often skim read. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it

Fuck no. I while ago I posted a thread where I knew my humour was missed. But what the hell, you can’t win them all can you?

But I normally can spot them. Ive a good sense humour.
