Do you need constant distraction to quell the bees in your head, or can you quietly sit in a room, alone and content?

I need someone whose voice I like to talk to me or I need music to focus on. Otherwise I can’t shut the noise up and sometimes it makes me want to cry

I sat in silence every evening for 2 weeks. It was bliss.

No. I'm mostly happy in my own company and perfectly at peace alone with my thoughts.

Sometimes something will trigger a spiral, but they're most often caused by someone else's words. And once I've sat and dissected what happened in my head during the spiral I'm back to being at peace

I don't have noise in my head I can't deal with, but I wouldn't just sit staring into space for any length of time. I would watch television, read or something.

I can't sit in the house byself without some kind of noise. But I will happily enough if I'm outdoors.

I like being in my own company. Too much socialising wears me down sometimes and I just need to be alone for a bit.

I can sit in a room and just have the radio on. I could do this for as long as i need to. However, when the bees start to buzz, it is only then that i would do something, anything eg peel the spuds, play my guitar, go for a walk etc. as this becomes the evasion from the buzzing as it occupies the part of my brain where the 'buzzing' was creeping in.

This works for me but I know it may not work for others.

It's usually in the early hours when i wake up, thats when the spirals happen.

Daytimes i can happily sit alone with a good book for hours.

Night times are the problem.

I'm always reading, listening to music or watching film/TV when home alone. When I'm working from home I have to have a podcast or something on as working in silence is difficult, I get too distracted by the lack of distraction.

Cycling. Always been the place to quiet the spirals or the noise. Me and the tarmac

Sadly I attract narcissists so they just add to my noise and that is crippling

I think I misread the question but yeah, I don’t mind being alone. Lots of noise and things going on around me can be quite overwhelming.

I'm the same. During the day I'm usually fine. At 3 am I could be a founding member of overthinkers anonymous x

Very content on my own, and can quite easily be at peace even thoughtless.

Unless cPTSD kicks in and then my mind is hell. Buzzing becomes a continuous high-pitched monotone eat-static accompaniment to a kaleidescope horrorshow.

Not nice to deal with alone and not nice for people to be around either.

I find the heavy shouty music fairly effective.

I can happily sit in silence on my own. To be honest I often prefer it.

It varies mostly I need a distraction my head isn't a great place, very very rarely I can enjoy the silence & it's absolute bliss but that hasn't happened in quite a while unfortunately.

I love be sat in silent , i love my own company, nevertheless this have in the past triggered an awful situation as my silent was very uncomfortable for some people at my work place . Fortunately 99% they gone only 1% left but i can say i never felt so happy as i am now . Saying this, they still ghost me... but at least i don't need to see their faces ever again or deal daily with them

I love been alone. I get to a point where I just can't stand the noise of other people and I need quiet. Even someone else breathing irritates me.

I appreciate those who can be alone comfortably. The question was more leaning to whether you need distractions though; TV, books, music, an activity, at all times

I need a distraction, either tv or books, not so much to quell the bees in my head, more if I'm alone with no distractions I just fall asleep, then can't sleep at night which puts me in a bad mood!

I don't even have Internet at home , no Netflix etc etc ... my television have 20 years old. I do my own music even if is out of tune and is not audible, i don't care , all i want is be and feeling happy as i am without worrying at all with others opinions
