A beautiful list of names, but a couple of those have stayed in use I think.
I have a very common name, I'd rather have a name like Elliott or Theo for sure.

I just read Mabel has "a saucy Victorian flavour" - I'm not sure that's going to bring it back in vogue though. Re Maude, my mother's family had French names for the girls going back to the 1800's (actually on her maternal line I think) and my favourite was Millie, which I do hear around as some of these are gradually coming back clearly. Amusingly my dad's mother actually told him that his new companion had the name of a prostit*te! Apparently that's why so many of the French names went out of fashion for so long. pt |
