There may still be some smouldering buildings five years after the Chaos.
But it is believed that some of the survivors may have begun to return to the cities, believing them free of contagion. |

I think medical wise, things like parts of body transplants, arms and legs and face transplants will be the norm.
Cancer wont be a death sentence. We will no far more about the brain and mind. There will be a new form of antibiotic that will work on many conditions.
Maybe im wishful thinking and noone will be admitted to hospital unless they can prove without hospital treatment they will die |

I think we will all have some kind of card or chip, that has all our information on.
I think the weather will become irratic and we will almost have a monsoon season, definetly more flooding anyway.
Eauthanasia will definetly be legalized.
There will be no such thing as the stereotype "family" of mum, dad and 2.2 children. "Families will just be a group of loving people that live together. What with step families, gay couples adopting, single people adopting it will all be completely the norm |

The Great Famine of 2027 was eased with a global sanction for the application of new food technologies, but:
In 2038, when it was discovered that "Soylent Green is people!", nobody cared. |

If you watch
Bladerunner
Minority Report
Surrogates
I Robot
Then you get a glimpse into what lies ahead in the future.
Also, Discovery Science made a series called Nextworld which let us know about the new technologies which were being introduced or in the pipeline.
This ranged from the cars, home security, leisure, military machines, robotics, transport etc...
Very insightful.
As for Britain?
Out of the European Union
Charles as King
Congestion Charge covering the whole of London.
Reality show on a space station lol

The dreadful but coincidental combination of events:
The long anticipated Mass Solar Emmission, and the "flip" of the planet's magnetic alignment (causing a repositioning of the magnetosphere) basically fries 90% of all modern silicon based technologies.
A massive movement of technological society (and even then, only the 'few' in a privaledged position) will relocate to small zones around the old polar caps to attempt a re-start.
Everywhere else, anyone who still owns a Timex manual watch, or knows how to use an abacus will be considered king of the world. |

Although most of those visions depend on us discovering a source of energy that can keep up with demands. It could go the other way with an increase in traditional skills and methods, less global travel, more local services.. |

The majority of the seven thousand who volunteered will have been placed in stasis, and the remaining crew, along with all the other responcibilities of the voyage under the initial acceleration-burn, will have to contend with the loss of the main communication dishes after an asteriod strike.
There will be no truning back and we must prepare to break the news that we will never see or hear from Earth again.
.. what was left of it.
We leave our birth-place behind, in the dark, to cool and die. |

"Cancer is not a death sentence at the moment."
some cancers are and what i ment was, although didnt say it, that people would be able to be tested to see if they have the different cancer genes in their bodies and would be able to take preventative medicine like the young girls are getting for cervic cancer but to cover all cancers |

Is there any money in curing cancers and other life ending illness. For pharmaceutical companies, surely the money's in the medicine to help you 'live with it'
Or am I just feeling cynical against these giant corporations. |

As a result of an apathetic population and a series of successive governments failing to resolve the finacial problems the bulk of the population will have been forced to work 15 hour shifts in the new sweatshops to earn a subsistence living. Meanwhile the tiny upper escelon have abandoned the country taking all the wealth with them to a series of heavily fortified islands in the Caribbean. |

Cancer is not a death sentence and should not be viewed as such. |

I see it in ashes. Scorched earth, little wildlife, deathly silent.
Either from a nuclear strike, asteroid, or an alien attack |
