fake profiles

I often choose not to use my GPS location. Or spoof it to somewhere else to avoid certain cretins who have previously used it to try and locate me when out and about.
I don't think it means they're fake. Just cautious or simply don't want the weirdos trying to triangulate their location  |

Some people change their location if they’re working or staying away from home so you might not regularly see them on your who’s near. I sometimes look at veris to get an indication of whether someone is just temporarily local |

Because people are weird.
I used to have my location on and I'd get messages like "you seem to be in (my location) a lot. Are you in (closest chain coffee shop)? I'm looking for you. Don't be shy."
No. I'm at home. Working. I put my postcode a few miles away on purpose. Don't be weird. |

We've had messages asking if we're on the other side of town in a supermarket we don't shop in etc etc, which is fucking weird enough. But actually using it to track someone essentially? What is wrong with people?! |

OP, you said that she liked your pictures and winked at you which implies that you sent the first message after that (otherwise you would just have said that she messaged you) but if her profile’s hidden how were you able to message her? Is it possible to message a hidden profile if they wink at you? I don’t know…..
Also, your age range is currently set at 25 to 70, you said that she’s 22 so how was she able to wink at you? We’re blocked from winking at someone if we’re outside their age range. |

It’s not strange at all that people come to that conclusion, if a profile is fake then they probably won’t be willing to talk on the phone, so someone not being willing to talk on the phone is an indication that the profile is fake. People aren’t saying that you must be fake if you won’t talk on the phone, they’re saying they can’t be sure that you’re real. Do you think that it’s wrong for people to be wary and cautious when chatting to people on the internet and to take precautions to ensure they’re safe? Do you think that people should just believe whatever anyone says to them and meet up with people who they don’t know for sure is real? |

we run vpn on our pc and laptops so loction will alway show false and we like that as a xtra to stop those from working out where we are that dont make me or us fake its wrote in the setting that we are based in taunton and thats all people need to know unless we are meeting then we will say where |

again we and lots we know dont give out phone numbers or email and dont use apps or cams and just use fab with great sucess your saying they are fake just because they wont do what you are asking.
my wifes profile is very busy she meets often shes not been let down or messed around now for quite a few years yet she only use fab again no phones no apps no emails no cams the tools are all on here along with strict selection process she does very well same with our couples profile and ill say again we know plenty who do things this way so saying they are fake is fake news within its self |

Can anyone find someone’s exact location through their profile on here then? Does it gives people’s locations that precisely?
If it says that someone is 1 mile away then they can’t locate them accurately because they could be anywhere within a 2 miles diameter circle around them. Does it give people’s location within less than a mile? |

That’s fine, I’m happy for you, please show me where I said that not speaking on the phone definitely means someone’s fake? I didn’t say that. Show me where I said that someone not doing what I ask shows that they’re fake. I didn’t say that. I’m not going to repeat my point, if you can’t understand it from the previous explanation that’s not my problem.
You say ‘the tools are all here along with strict selection process’ so you have a process that you go through to select if you want to meet someone so I assume you don’t meet people who don’t pass your strict selection process.
For some people part of their strict selection process is talking on the phone and if the other person won’t talk to them on the phone then they don’t pass their selection process so they won’t meet them.
Is it ok for you to have a strict selection process but not for other people to?
If you’re meeting people who you’ve been talking to on the internet without first making absolutely sure they’re genuine and it’s safe to meet them then you’re taking a huge risk and you’re putting yourself in danger. However people choose to go about making sure someone’s genuine and safe to meet is their own decision and if they choose not to meet someone who they don’t feel safe meeting then that’s their decision too.
Who are you to tell people how to feel and how to protect themselves? If they don’t feel sure that someone is real unless they’ve spoken to them on the phone then you don’t have the right to tell them they’re wrong to feel that way. |

So someone can locate you to within a quarter of a mile….there’s absolutely no need to use a vpn to hide your location then. I’d happily give someone my location within a quarter of a mile and feel confident that they wouldn’t be able to work out my exact location from that. |

No, people are only blocked if the person puts message filters on, e.g. for age.
Some people have the age range on their profile but don't block messages from anyone outside that range.
