Do you celebrate your birthday

Do you always celebrate birthdays?

It's mine at the weekend and at the moment I have nothing arranged and not sure I can be arsed to arrange anything. I could meet friends for drinks but I don't drink, going out for food would not be much different to any other day.

Don't know if it's because it's a birthday I never expected to reach or its just another day.

I've had birthdays over the years which pass without any ceremony or fuss and I've had others like my 40th where its been lots of different celebrations.

I think there's sometimes a pressure to make it a big thing and can leave us feeling a bit jaded when it isn't.

Ultimately its your day to do whatever you like, whenever you like. Being happy is the main thing.

Define celebrate! I take my time do do my thing, be that socialise, or relax and just have time alone to myself.. you do what you want to do and those that are close will respect that! It’s your day and your choice chap, you just do whatever you want to do

After 21 years of crap birthdays I gave up celebrating. Was pushed into arranging something for my 30th and then everyone backed out last minute. Back to doing nothing for the last 15 years.

birthdays can just get in the sea from my pov.

Do something just for you - be it making a packed-lunch and taking yourself off on a pleasant walk, taking pics of nature, add a commentary of where you were at this point last year, what things have changed & make a nice collage or something of the pics as a small commemoration. It’ll be nice to look back on. Nothing major but quite joyful

Only if someone arranges something for me.

If not I might go to my sister's for a drink or we might pop to the pub, but I don't bother with much else.

I've told my children I don't want a party for my 60th, but my family might have other ideas.

Hopefully I'll be in Italy

No, birthdays are for kids. I have no desire for an action man or Lego, so it’s quite pointless.

Next year will be my 50th and id love to do something memorable no idea what yet - ideas always welcome

We get a day off work for our birthday so I generally go out for the day - it’s February so nice to do something after the January blues

Gratitude is a must in life, be greatful for life.

I always celebrate my birthday with or without friends. Mine is a week before Christmas and realised when I was 23 it's not intentional that friends can't make it to celebrate with me. Around Christmas time people are having to catch up with family and friends they don't get to see much because of distance or busy schedules

I made up my mind that I will celebrate each birthday I get to see and no one has to join me on it, it's my day. I won't make friends feel shitty for not being with me I'm quite a selfless person in life but of course know there are times when we have to be a bit selfish put our selves first

Celebrating anything of myself is something I really struggle to do.

So no, I don't really celebrate my birthday or anything I do.

Mark rather than celebrate. It doesn't help beong born at a time of year that all everyone else wants to do is hibernate under the duvet.

Have not wanted to celebrate my birthday, ever, despite my telling people every year I really don’t want to celebrate, they just ignore me and still wonder why I get upset

Do what’s right for you. I love birthdays and celebrate in style. My daughter on the other hand has anxiety so it’s always just family.

Treat yourself to something different a massage, a film, something new. Have a great day whatever you decide.

I’ve discovered the joy of taking a week off and going somewhere remote, so that nobody can make a fuss, did that for my 50th last year and will be doing the same this year

I can’t bear being made a fuss of

It's my birthday today actually!

But no. Slept in, did some hobbies in the morning, takeaway later.

Parties are too much bother, especially when all your friends have moved away!0

Sometimes people I love choose to make it a special day for me. But those that know me, know a big celebration isn't what will do that for me.

So I put a candle in a cupcake as the clock turned to midnight, lit and blew it out to mark the day.
