Reports that the former wife of Jamie Rednapp, the footballer who once sang in a girl band called Eternal who ironically broke up, has caused stir. The band were planning a reunion tour but some bandmates are reported as saying that she has thrown them under a bus. Apparently, some band members did not want to play gay venues and so Jamie's wife has pulled out. Is she a hero or agitator. Should bands be able to play the venues they want. What's going on here guys. It's all over the news .. |

Two of the band members apparently have issues with LGBT evebts being taken over by the transgender community. Pushing the arguement that trans should not be included in Pride events even though many of the original Stonewall Riot were crossdressers and probably would have identified as trans in todays society. |

Wait. What's the issue?
Artists A and B dont want to perform at certain venues, they should be able to do so, or not as it were.
Artist C disagrees with A and B so chooses not to do any venues? Again within her right to do so.
There is no issue here other than a disagreement between band members. |

If Band A said I don't want to play in Glasgow because it will probably rain than that is one thing. Bit like Eddie Jones saying that Wales is a shitty little country.
But if they say that they don't want to play at the G-A-Y club because there may be gays there then is that a criminal offence. Where is Jennie when you need her ? |

Minor correction in that it seemed to be artists C and D that both disagreed as both Redknapp and Bryan were reported as deciding to split from the group due the Bennett sisters views. |

That's not what they've said though.
"A message was sent to the team putting together the Eternal reunion stating that if it was to go ahead, neither Vernie nor Easther would perform at Pride shows or LGBTQ+ festivals," he said.
"This was because the duo felt that the gay community was being hijacked by the trans community and they do not support this."

FWIW some people do feel that LGB issues have been hijacked by trans issues (although I that's a very emotive word). |

The T has been there for a long ass time and the originators of the Stonewall riots were trans. The history of pride is built around trans and bi, just as much as gay and lesbian |

Things like this eventually turn & eat themselves.
The girls were right as LGB is surely about what the acronym stands for, many Lesbians are feminists so never going to accept the sheer misogyny of men saying they are women.
Struggle to believe that there is a big desire for BLM supporters to be part of the ever changing other lgbtq+ whatever flag. Seems odd.
Louise to has her own view & if they cannot agree, don't play. |

Don't drag me into a trans politics debate. There is no answer, and there are enough extremists on both sides of the fence to ensure there never will be an answer.

I wouldn't say hero but she sticking to her own views just like the Bennett sisters have we live in a world where you can't have a opinion unless it's fits in with others im sure it wouldn't have ever been mentioned if they were saying that they didn't want to play at Wembley or Cardiff but the others do. |

I massively admire someone sticking to their principles, literally putting her money where her mouth is which in this 'cancel culture' is hugely impressive.

It’s probably for the best. Her band mates views are against her principles and her principles are against her band mates.
It seems that they can’t agree to disagree. |

My guess is she has another project coming up and the publicity she is getting now is worth more to her than the publicity she would have got from yet another reformed has been singers from yesterday gig.

Famouly Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera who as I understand it witnessed the raid and were amongst the first to fight back but I have been told there were others as well. |

Certainly at the time they wouldn't have identified as transgender as I don't think the term was coined then. At the time they were both understood to identify as transvestite but it is my understanding that both later identified as trans and that is certainly how the historians now seem to consider them. |

its not like she even needs to do the tour or reform, she is minted and has gone on to be very lucrative . so good for all sticking to their own views/beliefs on either side ..
this was just wasn't meant to be for the band reforming
With trans issues , its like religion you are either for it or against it or you just simply dont care either way as its irrelevant to your life experiences . .. there is no middle ground ultimately ..

Right. I don't really think that's accepted history by everyone. It's controversial and some suggest it's revisionist to say that Stonewall leaders were trans. I wonder if that's one reason why some people consider there to be a bit of a hijack of LBG issues. |

It’s my understanding that two of the notable agitators and instigators of the violence were at least cross dressing or tranvestites. Whether they were actively transitioning is a different matter but the T has always been tied into stonewall.
It’s my understanding that it’s not that the history has been revised but that it’s been censored for the benefit of anti trans sentiments, just as the bisexual involvement has been eroded. |

Oh hadn't heard bisexuals had been revised out? It's quite interesting reading around this because there's a variety of stories about who did what and when! |
