I like Imogen Clarkes writing style/stories. Each story (or the ones I've read) start off like a normal family and then you learn about their dynamics and secrets etc. Makes my family (the one I was brought up in) not look so broken!

Any of them! Start with JD Kirk A Litter of Bones then work through the series, then go into the Hoon books, you’ll be crying with laughter by the end! |

"Oh god, so many. Some favourites:
CJ Sansom
Jodie Taylor
M J Arlidge
Val McDermid
Ben Aaronovitch
"
And to add, literally anything by any of these. They all have series so start with the first and plough through |

I second the Ben Aaronovitch books, especially the Rivers of London books (crime stories with a supernatural slant). |

If you like crime with a supernatural slant, have you tried John Connolly's Charlie Parker series? I love them so much! |

"Fiction:
Open water
Cal
Exciting times
Small worlds
Diary of a young girl/ Anne Frank
Poor
Heartburn
"
Unsurprisingly nearly all the non fiction I read is about racism so pretty heavy. |

"I’m trying to get through some Neil Gaiman books atm, I’m reading Norse mythology and have Sandman vol 1 next on the agenda
Ngl that sounds a little heavy for a few days off work "
Try good omens that he co wrote with Terry Pratchett, not heavy just funny |

"My escapes are Jack Reacher, macho bullshit but it works for me "
Are they the books that had the tag line on the cover 'men want to be him, women want to be with him'? I saw that on a cover of a book once it really made me laugh, think it was a Jack Reacher |

"Have you seen the new series on prime?"
I haven't I don't have Prime, but I've seen the ads for it and it looks better than the films, Tom Cruise never seemed right to play Jack Reacher. |

If you want some fantasy escapism, can't recommend the First Law books by Joe Abercrombie highly enough, do yourself a favour and listen to them on audio though, they're narrated by Steven Pacey who really makes the characters come alive.
It's not for kids though. |
