Favourite female singer

My favourites have never been the best singers necessarily, there's enough big ballad individuals for that. Teenage me loved Shirley Manson. So have huge soft spot for her still.
Alanis Morrissette, Kate Bush and PJ Harvey. All really distinctive and interesting enough to keep my attention years later. |

"Currently it'd be Rianne Downey - https://youtu.be/DQdvcgYQODA?si=N18UxhV0JDyevfZZ, closely followed by Louisa of She Drew the Gun.
Oooft. Two strong picks there."
Why, thank you . I could afford to include some newcomers since Queen Dolly and Stevie, the high priestess, had already had a mention! |

Celine Dion (Now sadly forced into early retirement by stiff person syndrome)
Eva Cassidy (What a lovely voice! Burnt bright like a star then taken, so young, by cancer)
Randy Crawford
Nina Simone |

I love Skin from Skunk Anansie, her tone and clarity are incredible, and then she can belt out compressed/distorted screaming rock vocals too...
Tori Amos is another phenomenal singer, great emotion and warmth.

"There’s a vid on YouTube of Alison Krauss performing Carolina in My Mind that’s *chefs kiss*. She’s got the voice of an angel "
Her version of say nothing at all is wonderful. She has many layers to her voice. |
