Schitts Creek

I realised earlier this year that when I’m at my lowest I seem to focus heavily on gratitude, I guess it’s become my way of trying to getting out of the funk I’m in.

Today, I’m grateful to find this morning the voicemails from my late mum randomly restored on my new phone and I’m also grateful for my “knights in shining armour” who have rallied me today both in person and over text when I had a tricky appointment to navigate.

So my question is, what are you grateful for today?

I try to practice gratitude every day.

Today I am grateful for spending time with my daughter, getting my hair cut and achieving a couple of urgent gardening jobs. I am also grateful that I haven’t got work until Saturday.

Wow, sounds like you’ve had a busy but amazing day!

I think I generally think about gratitude a lot, probably daily too if I’m honest. But there’s always a heavy focus when I’m low.

Grateful for being alive and healthy and having control of my own thoughts and a good level and grounded mindset. The only things that can make a person unhappy are the thoughts inside their own heads, it really is all about perspective..... and the undying knowledge that tomorrow can always bring untold good blessings.... everything else is immaterial!

I'm actually very grateful for many things at the moment, the courtesy car being one but also for the weekend ahead and for the fact we go on holiday next week.

None of us are promised tomorrow! And while I agree in part our own thoughts make us unhappy I don’t necessarily agree it is that alone. Being grateful for being alive and healthy and having control of your own thoughts and a good level and grounded mindset is definitely amazing!

That had to be s lovely surprise to have those messages restored. Especially so today it seems.

I’m grateful for so many things:

Another day breathing, kicking, and shouting.

Eyes that can see.

Ears that can hear.

Legs that can carry me from here to there.

Family.

Waking up and going to sleep full of joyous memories and happiness.

The unselfishness and patience of someone close to me who somehow manages to stick by my side supporting me through my wild travel filled mad life as of recent, and says they have one job to do- keep me smiling.

Coffee perfectly brewed and served extra hot with just the right amount of oat milk.

The ability to attend another concert tomorrow and to jump, scream, and cry with excitement in now the 25th country I will see my favourite artist in.

I’m not ashamed to admit I actually cried this morning when I saw the messages and listened to her voice again

I love so much that you have a person *sigh* they are sooooo important to have and good for the soul and yes, I hear you with the coffee too.

Enjoy the concert tomorrow

Freedom from my head, active addiction and incarceration.

The opportunity to go on and start a masters, and not visiting crack houses any longer.

I've finished surgery, chemo and radiotherapy.

Getting stronger each day and hope all that terrible cancer has gone.

Can't wait to get back to work and get some new holidays booked and slowly get back to meets again in 2024.

My thoughts, love and best wishes to anyone who is going through this, its brutal but it does end.

Usually I struggle with forcing the daily gratitude because it becomes quite repetitive and banal but when I feel it, I’m literally bursting which for me personally feels more fulfilling and authentic. Thats just my personal view and quite likely I’m not doing it the right way (wouldn’t be the first time tbf!)
