A Question For The Gentlemen...
Jump to: Newest in thread
When a 'woman' asks for your opinion about an item of clothing or the current condition of her shapely derrière, do you accept the blood-curdling wrath of telling the truth and getting massacred in the process or do you simply bestow a compliment of half-truths laced with glitter, sugarcoating and fibs?
Whatever you do I salute you. They are a dangerous species. ![](/icons/s/2/domokun.gif) |

I tell her the truth. My girl wants to look for me, that’s why she’s asking. I’d be doing both of us a disservice if I lied
Sometimes I’ll tell her to try something else on just because I like to watch her change. She knows it too and loves it |

It's not just men who struggle with this question.
A really good friend of mine asked me if her outfit made her look fat.
She was a round lady in a figure hugging dress, she burst out laughing when I just looked at her opened mouthed unable to answer.
She realised I was struggling to lie and didn't want to make her feel bad by answering because we was going out to celebrate her birthday.
After a silent moment I explained that she was fat so yes looked fat, however she looked awesome in the dress. |

"I just channel Nana from the Royle Family:
"[Insert name] that dress looks right tight on you..."
Goes down well normally.
(I tell the truth, Nero, but am diplomatic with it!)"

Is our opinion valued either way? I'd caution on a white lie though if we were pushed for time |

Whenever such questions arise with Ailsa or others, I treat it as a learning exercise, an opportunity to hone my diplomatic and linguistic capabilities, by attempting to navigate a path between what I believe to be the truth and what I suspect she is feeling about herself at that particular moment in time. |

Somewhere off the edge of the map... 'ere there be monsters |
"Do you prefer this one, or that one?"
My answer doesn't matter so I just default to the truth. "That one" I say. I know that the reply will, without fail, always be;
"Oh? So what's the matter with this one, then!?"
*sigh* ![](/icons/s/rolleyes.gif) |

I'm on board with this. Does this dress make me look fat? Well err...... yes bc yknow you are! I feel if I'm going to ask stupid questions then it should warrant a very truthful response. So now I just wouldn't ask the question!! |

From what I’ve learned in my life women tend to dress up for other women
They know the men are ogaling at them regardless it’s the other women they want to look better than

I usually go with the honest answer, safety be damned!
However, on occasion the situation really calls for some glitter-covering and in that moment I'd very lightly sugar coat my response. But the truth usually comes out, so it's generally not worth it ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

I once was asked if a new dress made SWMBO look like a triangle and had to respond by saying "I don't know what a triangle looks like".
I think I escaped with my life (maybe not my limbs, but it was a mere flesh wound). |

Personally I would sugarcoat it but then go on to say they’re sexy.. but you prefer a different style or previous lingerie you’ve seen that looked better |

"Ask them if they would like to share their feelings on the subject.
•
Those who share their feelings are the ones who proliferate wild gossip. "
Then it would be wise for those who concern themselves with gossip not to share their feelings. |

most women have a bullshit meter, so while you think your just being complimentary if you lie, she'll still know!
if i dont think something suits my lady i'll say, because if i dont she'll probably be thinking it anyway. |

I've been with my wife long enough to be able to tell her the truth. Plus she's been with me long enough to know if she asks I'll be honest, which I assume is the whole point of asking in the first place ![](/icons/s/cool.gif) |

If she has more chins than a Japanese phone book and puts something tight on that does nothing for her figure I’ll be brutally honest and tell her without any doubt !!!
