When a 'woman' asks for your opinion about an item of clothing or the current condition of her shapely derrière, do you accept the blood-curdling wrath of telling the truth and getting massacred in the process or do you simply bestow a compliment of half-truths laced with glitter, sugarcoating and fibs?

Whatever you do I salute you. They are a dangerous species.

I tell her the truth. My girl wants to look for me, that’s why she’s asking. I’d be doing both of us a disservice if I lied

Sometimes I’ll tell her to try something else on just because I like to watch her change. She knows it too and loves it

It's not just men who struggle with this question.

A really good friend of mine asked me if her outfit made her look fat.

She was a round lady in a figure hugging dress, she burst out laughing when I just looked at her opened mouthed unable to answer.

She realised I was struggling to lie and didn't want to make her feel bad by answering because we was going out to celebrate her birthday.

After a silent moment I explained that she was fat so yes looked fat, however she looked awesome in the dress.

Whenever such questions arise with Ailsa or others, I treat it as a learning exercise, an opportunity to hone my diplomatic and linguistic capabilities, by attempting to navigate a path between what I believe to be the truth and what I suspect she is feeling about herself at that particular moment in time.

"Do you prefer this one, or that one?"

I'm on board with this. Does this dress make me look fat? Well err...... yes bc yknow you are! I feel if I'm going to ask stupid questions then it should warrant a very truthful response. So now I just wouldn't ask the question!!

The truth will always out!!

If you were to lie about her outfit when you get to where your going someone will tell her that will set off ww3

From what I’ve learned in my life women tend to dress up for other women

They know the men are ogaling at them regardless it’s the other women they want to look better than

Ps pls don’t hang me as I wrote with tounge in cheek!

I usually go with the honest answer, safety be damned!

However, on occasion the situation really calls for some glitter-covering and in that moment I'd very lightly sugar coat my response. But the truth usually comes out, so it's generally not worth it
