Sometimes I do wish I could understand the simple pleasures of life but I've accepted the fact we all function differently.. it baffles me how people can look forward to the weekend to watch a movie or just to meet up and have a drink.. these things are so mundane to me,.I honestly wish I could understand it.. I need challenges i need stress I need something to sim towards and beat otherwise i just take on that attitude of depression and boredom .. I live off 2 hours sleep maximum and work 14 hour days and train 4 days a week if i didn't do this I'd be nothing and I'd have time to think about everything im not doing and spiral downwards.. |

I get what you are saying in a way mate. I have to pack my weekends with activity that I feel is constructive.
I used to drink with the boys most weekends but found I was actually bored and couldn’t wait to go back to work (I love my job) also used to stuff my body with rubbish food.
But two hours sleep bro!!!!

Any chance you grew up in a house with lots of drama? People who had childhoods where there was always something going on (not in a good way always) sometimes struggle to have a calm life - it feels unnatural to them
Or maybe ADHD?
I mean if it doesn’t bother you then it’s fine, but if it does might want to look into it. Just be careful of burnout as you get to your 40s |

My weekends are my time to put my feet up. I work a physical job, do loads of overtime and train 5-6x a week. If I didn’t rest on the weekend I’d burn out very quickly. |

Sometimes literally doing nothing is the best thing you can do.
People need to have the chance to rest, relax and unwind. And sometimes that means doing fuck all, sitting back and watching the world go by without a care in the world. |

Just because someone’s not living to work or climbing munros every weekend doesn’t mean they are depressed or boring!

Pretty sure I just read people saying maybe I grew up in a bad household and someone trying to label me with ADHD.. simple fact is like you said we are all different some people live for what I said and others find that boring and actually love to deal with stress and hard times instead of moaning and taking pills |

I can understand where you're coming from.
I need to be busy and constantly on the go because if I have too much down time I overthink and dwell on things.
I also function on small amounts of sleep.
I do however look forward to things, though sometimes they don't live up to the hype and I wonder what's wrong with me!
The burnout is real though.

Now you are judging....'moaning and taking pills'. Just because some people prefer to relax, meet friends etc...like you said. Everyone is different. |

Constantly busy and working makes me feel well down. Slowing down and smelling the flowers is amazing sometimes, you should try it.

OP, Being non-stop is working for you now. It may work for you forever. If it ever feels like you don’t want to be non-stop and you struggle then, if that time comes, I’d suggest seeking a general psychological assessment. |

I look at most people and wonder how/why they do some things a certain way.
I know most do the same to me.
But that's just the way they are, and the way I am. I've never fit in with the normal path.
They can continue to be and do them, and I'll be and do me |

I find the significance of nothingness to be quite bliss. Life is simple by nature, we just make it complicated I belive, we are simple beings, in a complex and misleading society. The beauty of life is the fact that quite simply all we need in life is to eat, sleep, piss, shit, reproduce and be kind to others. Nothing else really matters |

Far from "judgement", what I read in this thread is a lot of care and concern being offered by posters worried about someone's well being.
Care for others (imho) is a mark of community and humanity. Reading so much in realatively few posts is humbling, well done to all those giants of spirit who offered a hand. |

Apologies if I came across as judgey. It does sound like an awful existence to me which is why I said I hope it gets better.
Don't get me wrong, I work long hours and fucking love being productive and helpful during that time. But I need that me time to actually enjoy myself around it. Existing purely to grind and not for those moments of your own sounds genuinely awful. I work hard so I can play hard. Working hard just to work hard I don't quite understand, hence asking what the goal was. |

You said it yourself, we are all different.
If I didn't have a chance to rest looking forward to my Netflix evenings and my bed multiple times a day I would probably be dead. It's what keeps me sane, rebalances and makes a huge difference to my mental wellbeing.
If your routine works for you then great, but to other people it would not appeal at all.
Keep doing what you're doing and don't worry about others. |

2 hours sleep doesn’t sound good for you OP but if you can cope on that then I take my hat off to you!
My weekends are my chill out time with my family, I catch up with the washing and then chill out with my kids, my dogs and my mum.
I tend not to make plans as I just like taking it slow.
Probably boring to anyone else but it does alright for me.
So long as you’re happy and healthy and it works for you then that’s the main thing. |

Sadly a misconception about depressed people. The last peron I heard express views similar to the Opening Post was shortly before his world fell apart; he had been running like that for severial years. The OP worried me, as I think it worried severial others. A lot of depressed people I know work very hard, they work because of depression, because it stops them thinking about (facing) the other issues in their life; because of a hope that "hard work will make it better", often it's taking them closer the te edge of a cliff thats getting taller.
If you are happy, all is fine. If you have spotted you are different to others this too maybe fine, but could it be a danger sign - maybe a sign it's time to take stock? Many others here were concerned by the original post, maybe there is a reason for that...
However you built your life style I wish you happiness and balance. Peace out (here endth the hippy shit ) |

Good for you OP, if that's what makes you happy.
Me, I've done the rat race thing but got tired of being a rat. It's taken me a long time but I've found a contentment and a peace in a joyously slower life, surrounded by those I love and who love me in return.
We all find happiness and fulfillment in different ways.
In answer to your original question I rarely look at other people's pace of life in judgement unless it's someone I care for and it becomes obvious that they're desperately unhappy and seeking constant distraction. |

Keep the momentum going.. you'll find depressed people are lazy people they make time to be depressed and moan can't happen if your constantly busy and working
Sadly a misconception about depressed people. The last peron I heard express views similar to the Opening Post was shortly before his world fell apart; he had been running like that for severial years. The OP worried me, as I think it worried severial others.
**A lot of depressed people I know work very hard, they work because of depression, because it stops them thinking about (facing) the other issues in their life; because of a hope that "hard work will make it better", often it's taking them closer the te edge of a cliff thats getting taller.**
If you are happy, all is fine. If you have spotted you are different to others this too maybe fine, but could it be a danger sign - maybe a sign it's time to take stock? Many others here were concerned by the original post, maybe there is a reason for that...
However you built your life style I wish you happiness and balance. Peace out (here endth the hippy shit )"

You wouldn't have hated us yesterday, got up about 10, Doughnut went on the Xbox for a few hours while I lounged in bed and did some chores and then we binged in front of Netflix from about 3 to 11pm.
Everyone lives their own lives but as a daughter of a man that worked himself hard (between 4 to 6 hours sleep a day) worked extremely long hours, watched what he ate and now cares for my mum 24/7, he has a host of health issues, absolutely live your life the best way you can but eventually, it will catch up with you, even if you take an afternoon now and again just reading a book or something.

"Sometimes I do wish I could understand the simple pleasures of life but I've accepted the fact we all function differently.. it baffles me how people can look forward to the weekend to watch a movie or just to meet up and have a drink.. these things are so mundane to me,.I honestly wish I could understand it.. "
It sounds to me like you have no peace of mind. I think you need to face the debates going on in your mind and come to an agreement. |

You wouldn't be 'nothing' if you did that... You'd become 'more'...
I wish you all best. But don't say you can't do it because if you do then you can't lol. |

"The OP is scared. I think most of us can relate to that on some level
What is it you think Im scared of my friend
"....otherwise i just take on that attitude of depression and boredom.."
So a poor choice of words and s miscalculation of judgement on your behalf.. I don't fear anything whatsoever.. I live my life in a way that's designed to keep me busy and occupied and successful in what I do .. "
So a humblebrag then |

It's cool brother don't expect everyone to understand each others ways of thinking and working in this life we're all built differently and think differently.. I don't mean stress from a wife or arguing with muppets on here I mean after a days work I have to go training or on days off I train I have to train 4-5 days a week the stress of kick-boxing keeps me occupied otherwise I'll do something pointless like start drinking or I don't know .. don't worry about it anyway forget the post |
