Are Fitspiration content still relavent and inspirational?
Fitspiration is fitness motivation photos and videos. During the early 2010s there was a trend to post belfies and fitness quote photos such as the infamous "mum with a 6 pack. What's your excuse" (Abbey Peele and Maria Kung). Or a quote from Arnie on black and white background of him.
However I recently noticed there seemed to so much less fresh Fitspiration content entering my newsfeeds and media. Which is odd because I am dialled in on that.
On visiting a Fitspiration page called 'yeah she squats' I was shocked the page has gone so far from its original purpose of promoting weight training to women (the name suggests where the primary focus was). Instead it seems to be a click funnel for leggings and Paywall NSFW content. While commentators argue (sometimes masogernisticly) the merits of a post based on either sexual preference or a lack knowledge on who it is and why it was posted 10 years earlier.
Brands like Gymshark and Nike have changed as well out go the influencers like like Azzyz (is metaphorical because he died) and Jen Selter, who promted humility and tackling social gym norms and replaced with individuals who more worried about providing bad information and performing gym stunts like dodging shot puts while blindfolded (yes one Mexican boxer did try that), rather than the legacy and effect of their 15mins of fame has.
They're also seems to be a move to be seen as body positive or body neutral and more inclusive. So does that mean there is no room for Fitspiration in the modern day? |

"I am not sure if they are, what motivates me is to watch people like sam sulek. I have never seen anyone with his training intensity "
Only came across him recently and can't help but feel something very bad is going to happen to someone very young if he doesn't slow it down... |

I don't really use such things. My motivation for going to the gym is to stay strong and be able to punch someone's lights out if I ever actually need to. That's not easy when you're on wheels. A lot of what I do with my PT is stuff we have invented ourselves, by adapting existing equipment and movements. |

First tone I have heard of that guy Sam Sulek. I used to watch lot of the Swolevrngers (Alan Roberts, Papa Swilio,Michelle, and obese to beast). Before the hey mixed political commentary on with exercise science, then I lost interest. Jeff Nippard, team for never lean, Buttermore, Natalie Ocean, Meg Squats and James Linker from ShrededSports science.

I tend not to follow the new “influencers” out there, a lot come up with shit to appeal novel rather that what actually works I follow a small few that put up actual information and not just a clip of them training x bodypart. Mainly motivated from when Jordan peters puts up a new stiff leg deadlift video, that bloke trains hard as fuck and his writings can motivate to want to train all out at the gym. Justin shier puts up great some training videos explains everything he does and why he does it, trains in impeccable form too |
