It's true you need A WHOLE set of new skills.

So since becoming single I've mowed the grass for the first time EVER.

My question is what new skills have you acquired recently?

My new skill is cost cutting on food and making soups…I need to step up from carrot and parsnip though. Mushroom tomorrow.

My new skill isn’t going to get me laid

If I am being honest I don’t think that becoming single has actually made me learn any new skills - I have, however, stopped doing a bunch of thing (like mowing the lawn).

I've been single so long that I've got no clue what I'd actually do with a "proper" boyfriend.

I fear, like almost every plant I've ever owned, I'd forget to look after him, leave him in the wrong part of the house and only realise when it's too late.

I live in a flat now and the communal gardens are done by someone else. The ex, however, has had to learn to mow the lawn for the first time

Now that's a tricky length. You can never be sure when putting, if it's going into the hole?

I've done everything myself for years. From plumbing to re-wiring, learning to wall paper, the lawn mowing, fixing showers and windows, the list is endless. You tube is a great teacher and I've always loved DIY. I was just never allowed to do it when stuffed into the traditional roles box by my ex. It's empowering, but also fairly endless.

I recently learnt how to bake bread. Well a loaf. I don't think I could bake the myriad of bread out there but I can definitely bake a loaf from scratch now. It was really rewarding and healing.

Same here - been single for years and can't remember what a relationship is like. Not sure I've picked up any new skills, although I did recently join the air-fryer cult.

Did you know how convenient an air-fryer is? Having one has completely changed my life...

Gotten quite good at fixing my car. Being single and poor meant I can only afford a banger.

Unfortunately it's now got a gear box issue and I'm grounded until I can get someone professional to take a look at it. FML.

Well even when I was with my ex I had to mow the lawn and do the house maintenance required... the 4yrs I spent single were honestly no different to being with my ex, in fact they were easier tha having him around. Mr has to actually just do things and not ask if I want it done as I am so used to taking care of everything myself.

So I've learned how to do many jobs already

I honestly can’t think of anything specific to do with becoming single! But love learning new skills for fun.

This week I’ve learned a special kind of guitar scale I didn’t know and mastered smart art in presentations. I also had a swimming lesson this morning, I can swim really well but want to improve my 500m speed so been learning how not to get out of breath by relaxing the bigger muscles and using the smaller ones

Think my biggest one has been keeping on top of the every day things. The washing, ironing, house work, cooking, making sure my boys are still alive and haven't killed each other. Don't get me wrong I helped with all before but now single doing them all and a full time job can be hard going.

I’ve been (mostly) single for several years.

The skills I’ve developed include

1. Enjoying my own company

2. Not worrying about being judged for doing fuck all for a day, except sitting in the garden drinking beers.
