Reports that amputated human limbs such as legs are being used to train dogs to sniff out dead human bodies at a top secret place in Wiltshire which is best known for Stonehenge and sausage roll production.
What the merry hell is going on here guys. It's all over the news |

Any rotting flesh can be used to train a "corpse" dog,in the same way that any rotting meat can be used to train members of the military Pioneer Corps in their second trade, recovery of bodies/parts hastily buried on the battlefield. |

"Sorry to be pedantic Tom but the report says trials "may" start in a month at Porton Down. At present ampuated limbs aren't being scattered around Wiltshire. "

Tom knows all about these retrieval dogs. A female dog handler he knew had a drugs dog and said it was useless in a kitchen environment because the smell of things like sizzling sausages puts them off the scent. They use humans then so dogs are not all they are cracked up to be. Dogs cannot track through water and that is why in many films you will the escapees head for a river to escape the dogs. There are other tactics to slow down the dogs but Tom will not say in a public forum. |

Dogs can track through water.
Cadaver dogs are trained on small boats and can pick up a scent cone from 10 metres below the surface.
They will bark to indicate and the search zone is reduced as the dog indicates and leans over the side of the boat. The closer they get to the water the closer they are to the scent cone.
There is also a major difference between an air scenting dog and a scent specific dog.
I helped train a SAR team for 6 years and yes pig flesh was used.

The going through water doesn't work, it is actually rather counter productive.
If you imagine each individual scent you produce, a huma smells a combination, a dog smells each individual element, what's in your body odour, the ingredients of what you've eaten and drank.
The dogs brain processes this information into a 3dimensional image across the land, overlayed with other scents.
Cutting across obstacles, kinky works as most dog handlers are not renowned for their fitness and the dogs are only a shortish distance from the handler.
Putting some substances down will stop the dog smelling for a bit.

I dont understand why there is a problem with this. It isn't as though the people need those bits back. Unless they want to have a pickled limb in a jar on the mantle piece. It's just meat. |

So would you eat an amputated leg as it's "just meat" ? |
