No, the mob won. He likely shouldn't of held Hermosas head when kissing her but he also kissed a male colleague as super excited.
This has damaged womens football more than anything could of, being accused of sexual abuse must surely confuse people that have suffered sexual abuse which will in no way resemble the single kiss.
A ridiculous pile on & band wagon chasing media.

I still don't understand why some men think it fine to touch a woman in any context.
Getting lost in the moment blah blah blah.
I'm sure his wife Manuela Delicado Vega was not impressed.
People worked hard for the me too movement around the world, and he does this live on TV.
Bet he won't touch another woman again without permission, so lesson learned |

"What’s the difference between his kiss and players mauling each other after scoring a goal?
I never see them getting consent before snogging and hugging them?"
False equivalency I reckon. Like it more to a situation of men being handed a trophy and whether a head of an FA would do the same to men. |

Just putting this out there:
If i am a manager of a business, and one day we secure a really lucrative contract. I congratulate the team working on the contract, and in my excitement kiss one of the team full on the lips, whilst grabbing their head in both hands.

Not if you...
a) refuse to apologise when the person says he/she didn't appreciate it (and - let me put this to you - do you recognise patriarchy and it's history with women at all JennieTV?)
b) then go on to claim it was 'understood' beforehand that a kiss would be ok (so um how is it excitement then?) and call the person a liar when he/she said actually it wasn't.
c) grabbed your crotch earlier in the day (on TV near your royal family).
d) ignored universal appeals for you to responsibly resign from your public post of influence please. And basically wait to be suspended first.
Just putting this out there to you.

Call it a lapse of judgement if you want, but doesn't mean it was right or should not have consequences. That he doubled down for so long compounded that extremely poor judgement, and I think his position was rightly untenable.

It is victim blaming you know.
He was in control of *ALL* of his actions. The woman did nothing but help win a football match and not corroborate his bullshit (how dare she not do that?).
The media (whatever they did being typical media) basically reported every decision he made.
But it was the Women's World Cup! That little thing has become quite a deal in recent years truth be told.

I just want to apologise to a couple of people here for coming on so strong last night. Clearly I got too angry and it impaired my posts. I'd hoped this story was over, and all the posts I saw seemed to go one way on it (I actually think most people are pretty tired of it). I actually couldn't sleep last night, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one there though.
I do stand by what I say regarding Rubiales himself however, he had complete control of his life and could still be in his job if he wasn't better-advised the other way politically imo (there was an immediate and very-strong 'anti-woke' 'nothing to apologise' campaign.. and there is more than one 'brand' of media in this world - it was a huge story pumped-up by everyone). I am sure that a more modern and generally sensible candidate can be found now though, which is what the Spanish FA and FIFA if not Spain and beyond clearly want. I just can't see how that's a bad thing.
Women's football is something I've followed for years (though I didn't catch much this year frustratingly) and is really important to me. And it's no small thing any more, not even slightly.
And also Women's rights (for equality and no less) are ultimately the biggest such matter in the world to me, as women are the world's biggest demographic - one that contains almost all of the others such as race. And it's also personal too due my personal background. I see Women's rights as the oldest fought-for rights. This was a big deal.

She'd just won the world cup, please.
Rubiales *immediately* became a political puppet of the anti-woke 'Stand your ground' brigade, the very moment Hermoso has the temerity to complain. People can't keep blaming "cancel culture" for these cavalcades! All the powerful media today is politically on the Right. They have the most selective scope. Millions of people simply stick to them.. they get boiled by them.
Please, think of the all negative stuff you have read re this story and "cancel culture".
Who is 'whipping up' what here?
The story itself was pretty simple, and no one can say that Rubiales handled it professionally. That's exactly what he *didn't* do.

So you were there were you? Watching it unfold? How is this part of the story not media driven too?
Or is what you 'follow' somehow not real media?
And who exactly are "the mob" here? Calling anyone "low rent" then tarring all?
When will people ever look at themselves before they suggest things of them-the-other!
This story has been at very-least *equally* driven by the Hard Right since it started. Give the way the media is going in recent years, the chances are even more.
Why do you think the traditional media is so afraid?
The 'chicken' is the ever-populist Hard Right, and it's a reactionary phenomenon that comes before the egg. Without strong HR media support this guy would have had nothing but the absence of 2 legs to stand on!
Why didn't he just apologise?
He was propped up and promoted as a 'gammon hero' by the 24-hour shitflow of RW and HR media from the start.

This is a shit storm brewing.
Think about it over the years how many sporting events have you seen where players hug and kiss, team mate's,coaches running out and hugging etc..
Think back to the 2012 Olympics how many times did you see a coach hugging people they have trained or consoling people?
People are going to be scared to show emotions they'll be high fiving each other with rubber hands on the end of a stick.
There needs to be a balance between one and the other where people can be spontaneous and show emotions without overstepping. |

Regarding the 'arousal vs consent' argument on another thread (now gone but I'm guessing not because of this argument), someone said here today that because Hermoso looked so happy she was clearly enjoying the kiss! But she'd literally just captained Spain to victory in the World Cup?
The key for me is the respect people have for things. How much does the Women's World Cup actually mean to you? Do Women's Rights mean a great deal too?
People's opinions here are not gender or sex-related either I find.
I think I've found that a lot of women are much more comfortable in a patriarchal world because they have learnt how to thrive by it and rise above other men and women (or perhaps they feel it's their best survival strategy). A man can be at the bottom of a 'patriarchal situation' where several woman are intentionally oppressing him in a deliberately patriarchal manner. All that matters are the concepts and principles. And are we into equality or not?
Some people who I would say are on the hard Right clearly prefer controlled inequality, and of course many people always have. Just look at global history.
To some, the idea of their own freedom (a very complete freedom in today's sense) clearly seems simply more important than the loses of freedom others might genuinely suffer from. I think that some people need to constantly protect their own sense of freedom, as inflated and privileged (spoilt even) though that very sense of freedom may seem to others!
I think that as that position is so fundamentally extreme, it can lead to huge paranoia (a breakdown in its own meaning essentially) and ultimately to controlled bullying - to fight off those who criticise it (often perceived as attacking or trying to almost physically remove it). Add the modern fashion for reductive thinking (ie simplistic and often anti-intellectual rationalising) - typically presented as 'common sense' - and pop in a mobile phone or two for all the electronically-disseminated politics - and here we are.
A properly-functioning society can only be fundamentally defined as a 'trade-off' imo. It's the trade of a citizens personal freedoms for their better survival chances - chances which are bourne largely of economics (money is entirely a social construct) and law and order.
Complete freedom on the other hand equals total anarchy and true mob rule.
The use of 'mob rule' to describe events like the reaction to Rubiales (which is essentially a professional matter with social ramifications) is to me an example of a 'reversing strategy', which hard-Right leaders typically use to create the chaos they need to thrive. Divide and conquer - created dissent.
The reality of course is that such an anarchistic philosophy will lead more to mob rule! So the hard-Right will naturally describe that negative term as the very heart of the enemy, while they indoctrinate their shallow support.
Everyone knows that 'mob rule' is a negative term though of course. It's surprising how much we do actually all share in terms of knowledge of good and bad, despite how different some of us are. But people very often choose to ignore things for their own benefit. That cherry-picking strategy fortunately isn't so great in areas like general governance, industry, education, health, economics and science of course. A more holistic approach is actually needed in these areas to actually manage them of course. So the insanity cannot easily take over - the world is simply too complex now to run.

I just heard Rubiales did not resign because of a kiss it was so Spain could host the mens football.
I heard Hermoso has made a complaint.
His buddy Vilda resigned a few days ago.
Whilst I agree with celebrating the win, a kiss on cheeks not a grab hold of head her legs go up clinch on her lips. He did not place lip kisses on any other player.
Vilda was caught groping a females boob same day.
If was me I would have knocked him out |

He hasn't done it gracefully no. His first port of call was Piers Morgan, pissing off most of Spain apparently. He's a global hero of the hard Right now though. He won't have too many problems in life I think, so fears for the 'poor man's' future are entirely unfounded I think.

"Wow are you all in contact with each other or something?
Jesus.
Just look at what it means to the Spanish football team and women all over the country (and the indeed the world).
All you people care about are your selves and your own sense of freedom.
He lied about that woman.
Grab your crotches over something else guys (assuming you find that acceptable for a man with his job too).
pt
I am a woman. All I see is a lapse of judgement being whipped up by the media who provided a bandwagon for everyone to jump on.
Call it a lapse of judgement if you want, but doesn't mean it was right or should not have consequences. That he doubled down for so long compounded that extremely poor judgement, and I think his position was rightly untenable.
"
Well said. I find it infuriating that we are even debating if this was right or wrong. A man kissed a woman without her consent. Worse he was in a position of power and did it in public. And then trained to victim blame her. How more wrong can this be??? |
