Octopuses filmed walking on Welsh beach

Footage on the BBC news shows two octopuses actually strolling along a Welsh beach like tourists and the only thing that is missing is the sun hat and ice cream. But what is going on here. Are we seeing evolution in action with lungs replacing gills. And an octopus with 8 legs evolving into an eight legged creature that can survive on land or sea. What's going on here ? It's all over the news |

I think they've always been able to survive out of water for a bit, thats how they can escape from tanks and find their way back to the sea. The strolling along the beach eating an icecream may be an evolution too far, but it is a very sweet image  |

Not unusual for them to do that.There are some species of freshwater catfish that can walk on their pectoral fins to get from one body of water to another.The Pilkingtons glass factory in Warrington used to discharge warm water into the canal,several hundred yards was warm enough year round to support all kinds of tropical fish.It wasn't unusual to see catfish "walking" down the towpath. |
