Just a question for those who have taken the leap and gone self-employed. Do you find you have less work when the weather is hot and sunny like it is now?
I repair computers for a living and it feels like the phone goes dead the moment the sun comes out! |

It certainly goes quieter for a few days,if the sun is still shining after that it goes back to normal. |

Maybe related, but the sun is often out in the summer when most people tend to go on holiday and not be working. |

For us the summer months are very quiet, we run a few different online shops but do not sell much stuff in the summer due to not stocking items specially tailored to this time of year, the only time we did sell masses during summer was in covid\lockdown times. Our business will start picking up now we are getting nearer quarter 4 which is the buying months for most of our stock. |

Oh August is always a bit of a nightmare because of holidays. And yes I guess some childless people are making the most of a late summer break now the prices will have started to drop - hadn't thought of that until now |

Good for me all year... I'm a Bike mechanic and specialist ...most of my customers are the enthusiast end of the market so they have winter and summer bikes plus TT, Gravel, MTB etc... continuous rolling work... winter bikes out...summer ones are in for service etc.. Some customers hand me the kids school bikes too but they are never the cheapy ones... |

My industries different to yours. But we all have our good and bad seasons. Recognising where they are is the first step to diversifying the business a bit to cover them. Or decide it’s holiday time and book something. |

I'm self employed and work 5.5-6 days a week and have done since I started in 99. As I work outside my work is weather dependent so prolonged periods of rain or dry weather has it's effect. You just have to accept there will be times which are leaner than others and, yes it's a cliche but make hay while the sun shines. |
