Since we have a 6 nations thread may as well have a World Cup thread

How England have basically managed to avoid meeting a top 4 team before a potential semifinal has to be the luckiest thing in a while…. Moral of the story, in future I don’t think they will ever hold another draw as early as this one…
I long for an Ireland vs France final… but I fear one of them will cock it up and that will be the quarterfinal!
P.s South Africa vs Scotland could be the sneakiest best game of the time….. |

I think England will slip up to Argentina and get through the group then out.
Saffers for me. Any team who beats them will lift the cup.
Interesting fact I was told the other day, the only teams to have lifted the RWC came into the tournament at #1 and #4 seeds only. Since rankings began.
I think that's currently Ireland and the ABs. |

I've only caught a few minutes of the SA va NZ game out of all the friendlies that have been played in the run up, but, in the bit I saw, South Africa made the All Blacks look very ordinary. So I'm putting my money on them to win.

I'll be backing England but unfortunately i'm not sure if we're getting through the pool. After the last 6-8 months i just can't find the optimism.
I think France (home advantage) or South Africa to win it |

The all blacks did the same to them in the rugby championship.
It's a lottery, so hard to predict, could go down to an injury, red card or poor ref decision in a single game
What is great is that this year should be the most competitive ever |

"Wales might surprise a few people
Wales would surprise one hell of a lot of people if they did anything
That’s fighting talk! "
Get stripped for action then. Let's be having you |

The major beneficiaries of the draw are definitely England and Australia…. The fact the earliest they can face France, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa and Scotland being a potential semi final means they don’t have a even peak for another month |
