RIP to that bloke from Smash Mouth. One of the better one-hit wonders of the late ’90s. Let’s gloss over him becoming a bit of a dodgy geezer in his rougher later years and remember the catchy summer tunes. |

"Who?
That bloke. Can't you read? All the respect that goes to the bloke and you're missing it. /s"
I really would suggest you think how you reply to people on threads.
Every single comment or statement you make is either rude or abrupt.
I wasn't asking you I was asking the OP.
And of course I can read, I also have better manners than you do as well clearly.
And I'm not the only person on here that has said the same. |

"I didn't realise this was a thread about someone who'd passed away until after I'd made my somewhat flippant comment above.
Apologies and sorry to hear about the person who has died. "
Who? Sorry if it was someone you knew RTG |

No matter, jokes and humour should pretty much always be a priority here on the forums |

Don’t worry everyone, it’s just another pop star dying too young. I don’t think any of us here knew him. Flippant is okay.
That said, it’s still a sad thing. And with at least one massive global hit song (you’d all know All Star if you heard it - it’s one of *those* tunes) the guy did touch a lot of lives along the way. |

The singer for the group Smash Mouth has passed.
They're mostly famous for the song you hear right at the start of Shrek.
It has taken on a life of it's own in recent years due to meme culture |

"I also commented before rtg's 2nd comment had actually updated on the thread so his first comment made no sense which is why I asked "who".
"
I'm not excusing the guy you reprimanded above (his message was too rude that this doesn't save it) but "/s" is used to indicate sarcasm on some online forums. |

I know the song and a little of the band Smash Mouth, just didn't put 2+2 together from the opening post.
It's definitely a sad thing for him to pass away so young. |

Asking someone if they can read or not in the manner above is rude full stop.
What if I replied back saying that I couldn't very well, then what? |

Jeez I even put a /s there. How much more do I have to do? Well, some people are just like that and there is nothing one can do *shrug* |

I agree with you, it was too rude to be saved by an "/s" |

RTG, sorry to hear about the death of this erstwhile one hit wonder. I also failed to grasp the initial sentiment of the opening post/s until I read the entire thread.
I also had no idea what the "/s" meant. I just thought it was a typo. |
