What’s the best way to spend 5k?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Recently been given some inheritance cash, it’s burning a hole!!!!
I don’t really need it, so thought I’d buy something fun… campervan or hot tub?
What would you/have you spent unexpected cash on? Ideas on a postcard please! |

A friend said to me that taking up any new sport/activity in middle age seems to cost about £5k.
I took up kite surfing, he took up motorcycle drag racing... Good adrenalin and a sense of mastering a new skill off both, l know someone else who took up pottery... |

That’s the point people miss. Income is income. Focus on the numbers. If they work multiply the strategy into say 20 properties you will have around £600k in equity and £4k a month net from minimal investment - you just have to work hard.. |

Bit of a boring answer, but you're 42, how's your pension? Have you maxed out your ISA for the year?
Failing that boring stuff, you do actually want to spend it, If you're single, I'd go on a holiday. 5k would buy you an absolute mint holiday, or you can use it to supplement some unpaid time off work. You could spend a month in Asia or you coukd spend 2 weeks somewhere amazing.
Alternatively if you're a member of a club, you could donate it to the club and have them name a new room after you!
Failing all that, a watch can be a great investment. |

Errmmmm why do you HAVE to spend it?
Keep it in savings.
5k doesn't go very far these days.
Or if you really don't need it.
I'm sure there's plenty of worthwhile charities who'd happily take it off your hands.
Maybe go to your local food bank find out what they need the most and get a 5k food delivery dropped off.
Or
Send me the money.
Or
Use the money to give financial assistance to underprivileged children.

"I’d buy a Campervan and travel the UK coastline, stopping off for fish suppers and a shandy to watch the Sunset.
I’d give a little bit to my mum and kids too. A tenner each should do it "
I’ll pick you up on the way past |

Would you like to earn a passive income?
With my fool proof plan, you can learn how I did it.
And you are in luck, right now there's a special offer. You can get the entire online course for only £5k.
That's right... A lifetime of luxury for only £5k.
I am only selecting a lucky few to be a part of my revolutionary system.

That sounds too simple and good to be true. But makes sense. |

I cant quite imagine having 5 grand and not needing it, but, if I was so lucky, I would buy most of a camper van with it. Sell up everything else and then fuck off in it |

I'm very boring so would probably put it in an high interest account for a little while and let it build itself up
Failing that, I'm dying for a new car so would use it for a deposit on that
Is there anything you need OP or want to upgrade on? Or maybe you could get yourself something really nice/fancy that would remind you of the person you go the inheritance from whenever you look at or use it?
Also sorry for your loss x |

Thanks, she didn’t like me much, and I referred to her as “mean granny” so no love lost!
And nothing I need at all, feeling like having fun with it is the way forward |

986 Porsche Boxster 2.7 (not quite enough for the 3.2S)- the most fun you can have for 5k and still get your money back if you get bored later |

I'd be mega boring & put it in a savings account!! Some fixed term 1 or 2 year ones are paying over 6% interest at the moment. If you find something you really want, you can still withdraw it, but if you don't think of anything at least it'll be increasing a little on the meantime!! |
