I remember my parents watching it when I was young, I’d have been 9 at the time.

Watching it now I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t have been allowed to watch it even if I’d wanted to.

An excellent watch on iPlayer, just ignore some dodgy make up and a somewhat theatrical staging.

It’s full of incredible performances by some of this country’s greatest actors.

Looking back, it seems like it was done as more for the theatre, with a sort of Shakespearean feel to it, some great actors, and interesting to see Patrick Stewart with a full head of hair.

A lot of TV, particularly BBC dramas, was made like that in the 70s.

You only have to watch sitcoms like Dad’s Army or Some Mothers Do ‘Av ‘Em to see painted backdrops and wobbly sets.

Point Nemo, Cumbria

I thought its portrayal of where we got the term 'proctologist' was pretty classy.

I've always felt that David Jacobi who played claudius is a very underrated actor, who should get much more credit for his acting.,maybe even a knighthood...instead of some of the 'lovelies 'who get it now.

My 16yr old loves watching it with me. Dad’s Army that is. Think he’d be mortally embarrassed if we watched I, Claudius together.
