Is it just me who finds a poorly written profile or status an instant turn-off? Things like using 'what' instead of 'want', or the wrong use of their/they're/there! |

As a well decorated officer of the grammar police… and well known pedant of the forums my 2 are the confusion of bear & bare like using ‘bare with me’ to mean please be patient when it actually is an invitation to get naked with the writer. And ‘no bear back ever!!!’ Which is supposed to be an aversion to unprotected sex… and really means ‘i dont want sex with someone with a very hairy back!’ Ladies who make these mistakes need bending over my knee and spanking until I’m satisfied!!!! … satisfied they’ve learned their lesson… obviously… |

A shameless dyslexic here. Sometimes my spelling if off and my grammar inaccurate. Even when I proof read stuff I miss errors. However the content of what I'm writing can still be understood and is perfectly valid. For me a person's worth has little to do with grammar and everything to do with what they are actually saying. If someone is the type of person to shun me because they value grammar snobbery over the contents of what I have to say then it's clear we've both had a lucky escape. Because to me the higher ignorance is to judge a person's worth on grammar than it is to be ignorant of the correct grammar itself. A person's intelligence and inate beauty has little to do with their understanding or ability to accurately adhere to a cultural language code.

One thing I would say is that we all make mistakes or have certain words that are our nemesis.
Quite a lot of people don't realise that although two words may sound the same and be spelled very similarly they don't actually mean the same thing. |

"On the big list of reasons why I'm not interested in someone, grammar falls pretty far down.
If it looks more like a typo than an outright grammatical error it's completely irrelevant to me."
Exactly. It is the person I am interested in. |

"I find it amazing how many people write definitely as defiantly.
That's really common now, for some reason
I think its an auto correct"
Possibly. I see it a lot and not just on here. |

It used to be an autocorrect. But I liked it more. So now I deliberately use defiantly if it's in a suitable context.
Like mispronunciations between friends that have hung around for years because I like the lilt of them. |

As long as you can understand what folks are saying then all is fine by me,.with regard to punctuation remember the following example of the correct use of punctuation...'the pen,is mightier than the sword'---'the penis, mightier than the sword'. |

Whilst not finding poor grammar a complete turn off, I do thoroughly enjoy reading a well written and punctuated post, where the poster has conveyed their message in as succinct a manner as possible whilst still being fully informative.
I try but fall someways short, I envy people who achieve it. |

I'm guilty as changed for this if it's something that puts you off people then obviously it is what it is for you but you could be missing out on meeting some amazing people, Luckily we are all very different otherwise the world would be a shit place, I'd never be put of by someone that's not hands on, if anything I'd happily help them learn new skills, and in return they can write letters for me |

"You will end up rejecting a good 2/3 of the profiles so good luck with that. "
The mind boggles over the concept of anyone on here being able to manage all three thirds of people offering themselves! |

No. But you will be vilified for saying it matters to you. When it comes to a profile, I think people should take the time to make it readable. Spelling/grammar check etc. Same goes for a cut and paste opening message. It makes a better impression and isn't that what most people want? |

Depends. If it's just odd mistakes then I'm not too bothered. If it looks like a text message from a mid-90s teenager on a limited data plan, then that's when I turns me off |

"It's a disgrace NGNW and no mistake.
Or should that be "it's a disgrace, NGNW and no mistake"?"
Actually, it should be - "It's a disgrace, N.G.N.W. and no mistake!"
Remember to put your final punctuation inside the quotation marks and also to capitalise the first word of the quote. |

It won't be just you , O.P. I'm not in your gang though. I prefer to concentrate on meaning rather than the technical side of things. That and cock. Oh , and face. Not to mention height, build , wealth and humour; but probably not wealth.
There are some highly intelligent and sexy people who can't spell for fukcign toffea! And also some eloquent , literate and grammatical twats.
Now you mention it, I really must glance an eye over your writing |
