There was that storyline in friends where Rachel thought she was divorced but Ross didn't submit the paperwork. So still married but she didn't know.

To me this is a confession sandwiched between an excuse (his isn't getting any anyway) and an attempt to make it all a joke. It's also likely testing the water on the level of shared morality here, and probably hoping for like-minded PM's from single women too (the smiley is unlikely to help him there though I think). Personally, if I had an other half then I wouldn't be able to consider them to be, whilst 'cheating'.

I am incredibly open with partners in terms of sharing my thoughts as well as my actions. It would poison the well for me to hide things from them. Cheating in essence, is deception, for me anyway.

What other people do, what they consider their boundaries to be, or not to be, etc is really none of my concern. You don't need my approval and I don't need yours. That's generally the nature of my curiousity with these posts. What is it that you want to hear from others?

It's an interesting conversation topic and definitely something worth discussing openly before getting in deep with someone. Big mistake to leave the issue floating in the ether, in my opinion.

I find the variation in views to be a very broad spectrum, but a very common sentiment is that it is the deception, which hurts the most.
