Gentlemën, Ladiës, Nøn-Binariës and Whateveriës...
I have a predilection for bread and butter. Who doesn't enjoy bread with butter? It's the simplest of basic delights, the contrasting firmness of rich salty butter spread lavishly across the softness of freshly baked bread...
...the everyday sliced loaf, a Welsh cake, a tea cake, the Bannock, the crusty loaf, a Sourdough or even the trusty Bloomer.
Join me and pay homage to bread and butter.
This gentleman loves bread and butter.
Did I ever parley about bread and butter?
I have now! |

Have you tried a sugar buttie - oh the joy of a sugar buttie from my childhood.
Now the closest I have dared to come to that is to pour sweetened condensed milk onto a slice of toast, but honestly, white bread with butter or marge and then sugar spread across it is to die for! |

I spent some time in a small French village outside of Toulon, as I recall.
The village in itself was a shrine to the joy of simplicity.
A cafe that only served espresso. A little pizzeria, with an angry old Italian man who refused to speak French and a little bakery, no signage, it didn't need it. Everyday like clockwork the local would follow the scent, each time the bread came out of the oven.
The bread was so good, I'd find myself in an internal debate as to whether it benefited from butter at all. |

Straight from the oven, crusty white bread with a healthy spreading of lurpak.
Toasted tiger bread with butter and apricot jam.
There's also a rather nice salt and pepper tiger loaf from Morrisons that is delicious.
Bread is a bit of a downfall for me

I'm a bread addict, actually no I used to be a bread addict I'm pretty sure it was a major contributor to my type 2 diabetes.
But I used to eat tons of the stuff.
Example:
Making a spag bol I'd usually have a baguette at hand tearing off chunks to dip in the sauce to taste.
Could easily devour an entire stick before even starting to eat properly.
I limit myself to two slices a day now.
But very occasionally I'll have a relapse usually when eating soup,I nice crusty low GI loaf from Lidl they are amazing.
Lashings I can't believe it's knob butter and dip into hot soup nom nom nom. |

"Is peanut butter included? Because the Pip & Nut's Dark Roast Crunchy Peanut Butter is amazing - it was previously called 'Ultimate Peanut Butter' and that name suits the product."

If it's allowed on a tea cake then please go for it! |

"Have you tried coarse Rosemary Salt, RTG? I'm hooked on it at the moment!
·
I make my own from time to time, because there’s a whopping great rosemary bush down the bottom of my garden. "
