Reports that over 1100 incidents of so called upskirting which is mainly caused by men who use mobile phone cameras on unsuspecting women. This is since 2019 and a much of this happening in schools. Is it time to simply ban skirts in public to stop this happening,?

Ban culture doesn't help anyone and again making women monitor their behaviour because people don't want to address the direct issue. Educate people and teach them the right path in life. |

My old boss (ish) was given a suspended sentence for doing this. He then fixed a camera to his car grill and parked near playgrounds. Disgusting fucker. On jail now but it won't be long until he comes out and does some other shit like that. |

"Double the sentences and make the offender pay financial compensation to the victim in all cases more like. "
Certain actions and crimes in these kinds of situations I think should have extreme punishments and sentences. Problem is having enough proof for it to not be abused and used to wrongfully accuse.
They are things that you quite clearly need to go out of your way to do, with clear intentions and no grey area. There is no mistake what they were doing/did. None of this misinterpreted actions, words, or touching. |

Well if it's a very long skirt it's difficult to do accidently but what about if it's so short and more of a belt than a skirt and you can see the knickers even when they are not bent over. What then? |

That doesn't give someone the right to take photos of someone to jerk off to later without consent |

Had a guy up skirt me recently and he lost his shit when he realised I was a trans . Guess he didn’t like my jockstrap underneath my denim skirt
He got rinsed publicly and his phone fell against the floor .
Best way to deal with them if you catch them
Filming is snatch their phone off them and run to nearest shop / security person

Point out the ease with which it's possible to just not take photos then make the low life responsible wear a short skirt and knickers at all times for a month after banning them from owning a camera phone for life |

Nope
It's easy. If you know a 'male' that behaves that way and upskirts, or any other abusive, preditory behaviour, you call him out. You make him accountable for his actions.
It's not the womans/girls fault or her skirts fault.

Time for the police to investigate properly instead of just giving a crime number.
Also time for the law to change so that the cps can hand down a harsher sentence.
Non consensual perversion is only one small step away from more heinous crimes.

I'm not spending a fortune on custom made trousers for my absurd legs.

They look fucking amazing.
But try buying something that looks good off the rack with an excessive hip to waist ratio and legs that leave 36 inch inside leg lengths flapping around the ankles. |

3.8 billion women in the world do you not think banning skirts is a slight overreaction?
This is Tom's topic. Reset those expectations."
Well it's 1100 cases in England so not comparable with the world female population.
Not sure aboutScottish figures which may affect me in kilts |

I blame the technology in conjunction with the crudity of certain men and boys.
It is so easy nowadays. In the past, men had to wear highly polished black shoes to use as a mirror. The reason given was so that you could see your face to shave but we all know the truth... |

Yes! Trousers to the ankles, long sleeved tops fastened to the neck. Women are just too sexual these days.

I attended a wedding a short while back, where I wore the kilt. A friend did the usual 'are you a real Scotsman?' thing, lifting it for a good close peek which she very much got. I didn't mind at all - indeed, it was a good fifteen minutes before my sporan returned to true vertical. |

"This is happening in schools, these boys or young men need dealing with. Many young girls and women are wearing shorts under skirts which is a sad sign of male behaviour."
Also a sign of lack of choice, where uniform codes insist upon skirts for girls.
Anyway, who set the expectation of how school girls should look, do we think it was the matriarchy? |

Tom does not describe himself as wise although many have described him in those terms. It's about being modest and not putting oneself on a pedestal.

If instead of using a camera ( which orovides a permanent record of the image). He went and lifted her skirt to have a look or bent down to look up her skirt - im pretty sure thats an offence that may put the offender on a register… same with up skirting - people - mainly men i would guess but not universally guaranteed - need to realise its not harmless fun and it causes real distress and they have to be punished and with a punishment which also provides for a deterrent against others thinking - its a laugh or no harm done.. its not a laugh for the victim and there is harm done. Time to either grow up and respect others right to privacy or suffer the inevitable consequences - especially when you try to get a job or move into an area and people know you’re a registered sex offender - not a laugh then is it? Its very twatty behaviour! |

All these answers to try and stop one type of crime, it's all a bit too simplistic really. Why not look at the bigger picture and instead of banning skirts/men/women or whatever, just eradicate all humam life instead and stop all crime, problem solved! |

Somewhere off the edge of the map... 'ere there be monsters |
"So what is the answer here guys ?"
If it were me running the school? Hmm, how about; anyone caught doing it would be banned from having their mobile phone on them whilst on school premises. Hand in to reception in the morning, collect from reception at home time. In addition, anyone caught have their school photo / mugshot added to the Wall of Shame, for all in school to see.
I reckon that might be a deterrent? |

"Time for the police to investigate properly instead of just giving a crime number."
Perhaps if the current government stopped giving their cronies millions for bogus PPE contracts or non existent ferries, they could properly fund public services like the police? Mind you, even then, some crimes will remain unsolvable.
"Also time for the law to change so that the cps can hand down a harsher sentence."
The CPS don't hand down any sentences. They act as the prosecutor (clues in the name). Magistrates or Judges hand down sentences. Under current legislation, you can go to prison for two years for this, and in some circumstances, be placed onto the Sex Offenders Register.
You're right about the chances of escalation though.
Tom, who's been to Essex. You asked about short skirts were underwear is easily visible? This law only applies to underwear or body parts that would not normally be visible. So if someone is deliberately displaying themselves, this legislation wouldn't come into force.
You're very welcome.
