So it's a euphemism for being bad tempered and having anger issues. |

Mrs can be Feisty hence the name, try her and see what you get
What I genuinely enjoy though is the people on here with all kinds of preconceptions, that says more about yourselves than it does about the person describing themselves |

Certainly very fit. Feisty we’ll take your word for it, but yes preconceptions / perceptions can vary. The feisty ladies I know are very independent of spirit.. |

I’ve only known one woman who described herself like this, she was really nice although didn’t suffer fools gladly. That’s not a bad thing though.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said that we have as many personalities as we have friends, for someone on Fab it’s just one part of their personality they want to put forward to certain people. Nobody is that one dimensional really. |

Or the experience of most (not all)"feisty and fiery"turning out rather bland and tame or argumentative and contrary(not in a good way)for the sake of it.Starting a fight within ten minutes of walking into a bar(turns out she was barred from four others on the same street) is hardly fiery or feisty, just sad. |

I would imagine 'most' really don't have that experience. Mrs has never been barred from anywhere. |

I think you may have missed the point, instead feeling it's more about actually being feisty.
Not all that describe themselves as feisty, or alpha male are indeed that, some use the term to hide their toxicities behind.
Being naturally feisty is fine, pretending to be in order to be a dick isn't.
If you are/or Mrs is naturally feisty, then the comments aren't necessarily aimed towards you, but the dicks that use the term.
There lies your issue, the ones that behave in a way for others to view the term negatively, when self described. |

I wasn't talking about the experience of "most" people,I was talking about most of the ladies who describe themselves as feisty and fiery that I have encountered, giving one example of the description being nothing if the sort.An experience is not a preconception or opinion. In the interest of "balance",I know a regional Animal Welfare Officer who is genuinely feisty and fiery especially when it comes to encountering mysogynists in her work. |

I won't tolerate being called 'feisty' by anyone.
I won't tolerate being called 'fiery' by anyone.
If I have strength, passion, reason, logic and become vocal and make my point strongly - then THAT is what I am doing and I don't do it on my own or to myself it's generally in reply to some 'bullshit' that won't stop from a male who then starts with the labels....
ooooooooo she's feisty.... It's only attributed to women.
Someone above said they can be 'feisty' when being defensive. In order to be defensive you have to have been attacked.
So ..... if you don't want retaliation don't start stuff and you won't have to label those that don't take your bullshit.
I am not feisty or fiery. I'm just not a pushover. |

P.S. If a woman says she's fiery and feisty I'd have to check she knows what that actually means.
I'm sort of on the side of it being the words of an insecure person who is putting on a front like a frog puffing up ... |

I live in Spain. Massively stereotypical perhaps but based on observation a lot of Spanish ladies are very fiesty and fiery.
It is not a relaxing experience to be around them.
Some may well be fiesty and fiery, others may just be arsey and attitudey but the former sounds better. |

Call yourself whatever you want but if you have to repeat it or point it out to others on a regular basis it's usually a sign that you are either projecting a completely different image or are very insecure. |

I agree completely. Lots of ways to describe women’s behaviour is derogatory; if they’re not feisty then they’re timid.
Language is very important in how we see things. Sometimes it’s incredibly subtle but it shapes our viewpoint, the patriarchy doesn’t remain in place because they’ve got a cool logo and jingle. |

"And what about the men ?"
I've touched on that.
Saying too often a woman referring to herself as feisty is on par to a man referring to himself as alpha.
Often, it's more a bad attitude disguised behind a more positive term, this then switches those terms to be considered negative.
Of course, genuine feisty and alpha (male or female) is actually a positive.

Interesting read. Mainly negative.
A woman can feisty or fiery as she's in the defence mode because that's how she learned to be in an environment where she was constantly attacked. She'll naturally feel like she's got to be on guard for the next attack and never drop out if it.
To label that a bad attitude and argumentive or some other negative thing when you don't understand what's behind it just makes it ten times worse for her whe you could just show her she doesn't need to be that way with you because she's safe.

I know the difference between Attitude/Argumentative and Fiery/Feisty.I have known the ladies I referred to for quite a while, their backgrounds etc.None have a background where they need to be defensive, but all have a desire to be centre of attention, narcissistic, thereby creating situations that they are the centre of.The truly Feisty/Fiery stand up for themselves only when it is needed, they are not in permanent defence mode, putting on a front of the attack is the best defence mentality. When these ladies stand up it is a joy to behold. |
