Holidays abroad are becoming more expensive

When it comes to holidays abroad, I think they're becoming more and more expensive.

My dad did an enquiry earlier at Tui on a 2 week holiday at Florida in a couple of years and it was priced up to £10,000 and that's just for the flights and the hotel. Add the tickets for Disney and Universal on top of that and that could be around £15,000 altogether.

I reckon years down the line, holidays abroad will be so expensive that you'd have to be a millionaire to be able to afford it.

I guess holiday prices are bound to go up due to tax hikes, the pandemic and the cost of living crisis.

You will stay in your zones, own nothing and you’ll never be happier!

Prices will come down when they price all the punters out

One week in a suite , half board, in The Algarve for two, just over £1k. That's with extra space seats on the plane. It is late April but there are holidays to be had at relatively cheap prices.

Florida/Disney has always been super expensive though. A lass in work got married out there and expected friends and family to pay out to attend the wedding. She couldn’t understand why people declined. But why would you pay that to attend someone else’s wedding when you could pay that kind of money and go somewhere you actually wanted to go on holiday?

Anyway, I digress…..on the flip side though, it’s quite achievable to do cheaper holidays abroad if you’re more easy going on accommodation and flights.

Might be because it's so far in advance and the airline has no idea about their costs at that point. Not sure how many people he was booking for but 2 weeks return flight is currently £500 to £600 per person.

Its a sad state of affairs.

Its rather extreme too, its either super expensive to the point where you have to plan and save for years ahead or its dirt cheap but you’re risking your health/ safety staying in some 1 star hostel trying not to die from D&V.

Fuck it

You’re only born once so if a holiday (or anything else) is affordable do it, if not don’t

We’re all destined for the same place at some point in life and nothing from this world will exist there so do what you can now and while you can

FUCK IT

Oh the destination wedding. Great idea but it doesn't half put some people in an awkward position. Add in the destination stag and hen do and it's a costly business

Another point is that for many years there have been cheap holidays abroad, so cheap that it's led to airlines and holiday companies going bust as it wasn't sustainable...maybe we are now paying prices which will mean businesses will survive?

I always thought the destination wedding was to avoid having to deal with who to invite or not. I think expecting any other than the immediate wedding party is taking the piss. But hey there's nothing like a wedding for reasoning to disappear.

Worthing

They do seem a lot of hassle anyway. Luckily I prefer staycations.

I agree. I do have a holiday in Majorca next month and in May next year but after that, will be nothing but holidays in the UK from then on.

That's probably part of the reason.

I remember when going abroad wasn’t the norm. Now, it’s getting harder to find somewhere that isn’t swarming with tourists.

North Shields

The holiday we've just been on cost £6800 this year, identical holiday next year is coming out at £8900. A very similar holiday last year cost us £5400.

Absolutely insane increases.

Cornwall costs more than that for 5 days for 3 people but it’s a lot less hassle.

We’re not the only country with a cost-of-living crises coupled with interest rates leaping skywards.

All over

They are ridiculous at the moment. Some of the pkaces I stayed at not so long ago are 3 times as much if not more. On top of that and in most cases they are not even offering the same quality anymore. Yes you can still pick something cheaper but most of the time not what I like or previously enjoyed
