Oh no! I was "hacked"

How many people have genuinely been hacked on here?

I've seen some strange things on fab but it's the one thing I can't get my head round.

If someone can get into your fab account, surely they would head down the extortion route and not just change your password or send shitty messages pretending to be you?

"Oh I was hacked and had to set up a new account" sounds a lot like "I got a mega ban"

What are your thoughts?

cahoots

In general hacking occurs because you let the hackers in...giving away your log ins...clicking on unexpected links etc.

I would hope the majority of people arent that naive.

I don't know of anyone who's been genuinely hacked but sometimes I suspect that when some couples believe they've been continually hacked it's one partner doing things and denying it. I also think that a lot of people are careless with phones and laptops and leave themselves logged in while others use easily guessed passwords or actually share them with people.

Anyone who believes they've been hacked should change their password asap

That's so funny couples using the hacking thing because they have been messaging when maybe they shouldn't.

Hackers hack for money. Not abusive emails

I’d expect it’s usually people getting distracted and leaving their device unattended while still logged in.

We had a very funny incident a few years ago at work when someone was logged into their Facebook account and left their desk just as a prankster was walking by.

Been guilty of doing something similar. Sending an email from them to all coworkers saying they will be getting the cakes in next Friday, what do they want.

If I saw they were on fab, I'd just close the browser for them and MIB myself so I forgot I ever saw it.

Was worse than that! They proposed to his girl friend and sent his girlfriends mum a message asking if she was up for a naughty night!

Terrible behaviour….

I never believe people were hacked and someone else sent the twatty messages.

I might believe that a mate or a family member used their open account to send messages for a laugh or malice.

People say 'hacked' not knowing it's real meaning

I tend to assume they mean their partner has discovered their profile and left “this profile belongs to a cheater” blurb on their profile and changed the password to the account.

But I’m just a cynical ratbag.
