Willenhall... was once known as Humpshire due to humpbacks.

Humpback were common in Willenhall due to the lock industries apprentices who would be sitting over lock parts filing them

Another was during the war all the houses down a certain street had no windows due to bombings... all except one... which happened to be my grandparents.

My grandma told me the only reason they still had windows is because my grandad "never did bother" to reputty them so they just shook instead of shattering! Haha

I grew up in a quiet rural village but from such a humble (and small) environment a global celebrity was also brought up. A few years apart so our paths never (knowingly) crossed.

The city centre has changed a lot. I like the community I live in, where I work and I am close to some of my family that remain here and I’m never bored, always something to do. The only thing I don’t like is the knife crime seems to be a big problem.

Slough ~ it’s shit

Here’s a fact about Slough

‘Station Jim’

There is a stuffed dog which stands proudly in a glass case on Platform 5 at Slough train station.

The dog was a canine collector for the Great Western Railway Widows and Orphans Fund from 1894 until his death in 1896.

After his death, he was placed on display in a glass case with a money box to allow collection for the fund after his death.

Station Jim was brought to the railway station aged three months old and when he was small, he was carried in the railway's porter’s pocket.

He was first taught to use the footbridge rather than crossing the rails which he continued to do until his death.
