I work in the Care sector now, in Management side.
I was a legal secretary for years and years - that was interesting - but have also worked for Royal Mail, various early morning cleaning jobs in different places (shops, banks, Golf Clubs) when I was a youngster in College to pay for my nights out!
Been around the block a bit |

That's brilliant! Can't lie, the school holidays have been a welcome respite from working all day and then doing schools |

I work with autistic children now, after a few years in a children's prison, a few years at university, a few years as a photographer, and a lifetime in IT from the age of 16 until I saw some sense
The last 14 years have been far more rewarding that the previous 28! |

You must have seen so much change. I started IT professionally in 1997 (although did write compute games as a kid for C64) and used to work as both a buyer and seller on rentacoder developing educational software. Then I got a break & started a consultancy advising government and education departments on technology in education , bidding for BECTA & JISC projects right until lockdown.
I don’t miss IT , 60-70 hour weeks were normal. Now I work financing similar projects in the private sector work 35 hours max |

So long as you're calm and polite, it's all good. The amount of times I've heard "I'm not having a go at you but" and then proceeds to have a go at me... |

I work as a Hypn0therapist/coach/energy healer/kundalini awakening
and I do that in fuerteventura and
Online.
I sometimes combine that with my former job as a photographer, to integrate nude art with emotional healing...
I'm occasionally offering OrgasmicMeditation (OMing) in the healing too.
And on the fun, and only when asked, with a very clear set of rules and guidelines, I use hypn0sis with couples or single women to bring new sensations during play night.

Yeah. I had a brief stint at a fast food call centre, so I sympathise.
Yes, mate, I'll personally drive 300km to fix the oven that exploded because you need your fix. Sure. And this is entirely my fault and going slightly out of your way is a tyrannical suggestion. I know. My heart fucking bleeds.
I try to keep it to "this situation sucks" rather than "you suck". Because the person who sucks (if applicable) is probably ten layers up the food chain |

For the last 40 years or so i have been a kitchen fitter. Before though, from leaving school i became a sound engineer. If i had stayed in the music industry though, i wouldn't be posting in this thread now. So i'm more than happy doing what i do now. |

I look after kids in full time residential care. It's bloody tough- we put up with alot of verbal & some physical abuse. There are some highs, though. One of our teens left us for a semi independent placement this week & they wrote us the most beautiful thank you letter
Moments like that make it all worth it! |

That's an admirable job. You deserve to go to that party and let your hair down!
How lovely to receive that letter. |

"I’m outstanding in my field
Have you tried sitting down instead?"
I did but I wasn’t so outstanding at sitting, besides, I’m short enough when I’m standing, you would hardly see me if I was sitting |

We do virtually the same job but my home is a therapeutic home for autistic children. The rewards, verbal and physical abuse are very similar though, though far less than the time I spent in a Secure Training Centre with 12-18 year olds, in custodial care (the rewards were the same though; I never thought I'd go to a book launch at The House of Lords for one of the boys that I used to work with who wrote about me in his book). I cried a lot that day |

Leather worker and crafter of bags for life.
I make pocket wallets out of goat foreskins. They easily fit into your pocket but when you need something larger, stoke it gently and voila… it turns into a hold-all.

Ex military for most of my life including the years as a private contractor. Stopped doing that and had a couple of years finding a job I enjoyed and felt settled in, worked in a quarry, interesting but boring driving machines all day.
Then a year specialist ceramic coating jet engine turbine blades. Now I’m a railyard shunter/driver and I love it. Physical, demanding and always changing. Today I’ve managed 30,121 steps 8,000 of those where walking the dog the rest at work. |
