Everyone is whether you rent or own unless you are fortunate enough to have no money concerns. Not everyone has a family to fall back on or savings to help them on a rainy day. It's so easy in the world we live in now to fall into hard times, people should remember that when they make assumptions about homeless people too. |

Do you?! How?? We certainly don't! We pay the normal rates for metered water and whatever Octopus charge for gas and leccy. Plus full council tax at whatever band we're in (D?) |

I don't get discounts for any services but car and house insurance is more expensive in certain postcodes where the risk is higher ..... got nothin to do with home ownership though ... |

We were accidental landlords for a while (not any more, thankfully) but the tenants paid their own utilities in exactly the same way as we had done when we lived in the same flat. |

I would say maybe 2 pay days then iam fucked but I have a great deal with where I am sadly not many can say the same
Me and the Mrs both work part time (for me they have got rid of all the full timers to save cash and for her it worked around the kids and such when they was younger)and well it's not living it's surviving I mean going to a club or meal or something is a treat and well thankfully we can do this maybe once a month if I have had over time but apart from that we do have to watch our money maybe we are just in the same boat as everyone else and iam just moaning I don't know lol |

Oh yea the soliton to everyone’s problems - become a landlord. If you are struggling to pay bills etc just buy a house and rent it out 
Interestingly heard on news yesterday that for the first time in many years it is now cheaper to rent than buy at current mortgage rates (I think that was for south east or perhaps national average). There have been long periods in the past where this has been the case the last 10 years or so of very low interest rates have made it seem like a one way bet.
My son is currently negotiating to rent a two bed flat in Wesr London and rent is less than the interest on a mortgage at current rates (never mind the full mortgage payment including capital repayment portion) |

The whole situation is terribly sad. Its Britain for goodness sake. People should not be queuing at food banks, frightened to death of been homeless, working endless hours to keep the power on, veterans sleeping rough. List is endless. Don't get me started

Many of us are only a couple of months away generally from being homeless. If you’re renting the process to be forced to move out is quicker than if you’re a home owner. Having said that, even if you have been given notice to quit, you’d usually be advised to stay in situ until the landlord actually gets possession.
Rents are crazy expensive now. Sad times. |

I’d say people paying a mortgage aren’t that far behind to be fair… I’m saving for a plot of land. And build my own log cabin, somewhere with a decent water table and a bit of woodland |

From someone who has been homeless whilst pregnant & with a toddler (many years ago) it’s a horrible scary situation to be in. I work 2 jobs to do my absolute best not to be in that situation again. I feel grateful & blessed that I have a roof over my head. |

People go on about how expensive things are but this is nothing new.
It’s fair to say we don’t know the true meaning, Imagine living in the 1930’s for example.
When our grandparents got married they had to live with their parents until they could put money down on a house. It was several years after that before they could buy a car. I think some people want everything. Before anyone says it’s 2023 Politicians run this country today as they did back then so for that reason we’ll always be taxes to pay and face price increases. The only people well to do are the elite as it always has been.

The only thing trickling down here is the piss that businesses are taking- recently saw fish& chips £13.60 - despite repeated cuts in the price of crude oil on the trading market- prices are going back up and banks will be-the subject of s hundred more threads im guessing   |
