Currently rewatching Buffy the vampire slayer. Rare that a show stays as good quality for so many years and set the format for Joss Whedon’s marvel movies later on. That’s got to be up there
Also, stranger things, Dexter, and breaking bad
I could also thrown in a few cartoons. I never did grow up |

MONKEY!
Not Monkey Magic, that was the theme tune. Monkey is the Japanese version of a Chinese myth, funked up in the late 70's and dubbed for UK audiences that wormed its way into my imagination as a child and has not left me. Monkey, Sandy, Pigsy are exiled Chinese gods (Sandy being a cannibal fish god btw. Who knew?) led by the BOY monk Tripitaka, who was played and voiced by a woman so my adolescent confusion is explainable. The quartet battle demons along their journey west to India, i think to find some scrolls of wisdom for Buddha i think. Who was also a woman. Im confused. Doesnt this sound like the perfect tv show? That is because it is perfectly insane. |

Oo! That’s a toughy! Gotta stick with my first choice then and say Buffy. Really set the standard. Even the Sopranos took a lot from Buffy (dream sequences etc) and that was a trendsetter in its own right
Once more with feeling is an excellent choice. You can hear Christophe Beck already putting ideas together for Frozen in that episode
I’m partial to any episode that gave Emma Caulfield (Anya) decent screen time. Very funny and extremely bangable. I love fish out of water characters in general |

Stranger things has a great sense of humour. If you liked Buffy, you’ll like that. |

Breaking Bad is one of the best overall in all areas, from plot to acting, to cinematography.
Other shows are great in their own right, but sometimes fall short. Sometimes have very weak episodes etc or something not quite right. |

I liked the first season. Buffy’s first season is a bit of an acquired taste/nostalgia required. Like a lot shows though, ST gains momentum over the seasons. I’ve just finished S3 and it’s really getting into its stride. Looking forward to 4, and 5 when it comes out
You should try “the end of the f*cling world” too with your tastes. Great British show |

"First series of Westworld. Sublime.
Mrs TMN x
And the it tanks, it tanks so hard.
Honestly, I was equal parts gutted/raging. The first season was beautiful. "
Season 2 was pretty good. It had some beautiful touches.
Season 3 and 4 - they shouldn't have bothered, it's like a different show. |

Many great ones, few really good ones.
Try hell on wheels until season 2 finale (then stop). Really gritty western.
Breaking bad - great from start to finish.
Firefly - nice little show, unfortunately cancelled after one season. Film somehow answers open questions though. |

I think I was more disappointed I didn't like it because it is the type of genre I love, but I just couldn't get into it for some reason. |

I probably will, I do do that with books and tv series, give up on them half way through, then go back to them at a later date and love them. |

I'm going to be the only one who liked this, but I'm a huge fan of Twin Peaks. I love nearly everything that David Lynch has made, except Dune of course, that was crap, but it was down to studio interference. Also, it was too big of a story to be told in one movie, Denis Villeneuve was right to split it into two. And there was Sting in his pants. Yuk.
Anyway, Twin Peaks is weird, funny, intelligent, disturbing, thought provoking, horrifying and just plain bizarre. Just when you think you get a handle on things, something comes out of left field and BAM! Everything changes and you're lost again.
Series 3 was brilliant in recreating the atmosphere of a disturbing dream, Lynch just didn't follow the rules of TV at all. A timeline that chopped and changed backwards and forwards without warning, long takes with no action, questions left without answers, little to no exposition relying on the viewer to make sense of events.
Anyway, sorry to go on, I love this show. |

Without doubt, Breaking Bad. Absolutely incredible acting and writing from start to finish. The Walter White to Heisenberg transformation was other worldly from Cranston. I literally felt empty for months after it finished and I doubt I'll ever see another TV show that gripped and emotionally pulled me as much as Breaking Bad did. |

Season two started well, but was so convoluted by the end - not worth the effort. Agree about three and four, a completely different show. |

"Shows like 'Band of brothers' and 'fawlty towers' had 10-12 episodes. Got to have some longevity in there for it to be the greatest, IMO obviously " yes but fawlty towers with only 8 episodes has longevity which makes it the greatest |

I know many people who liked twin peaks enjoy red dwarf, too. Especially earlier seasons |

Twin Peaks is brilliant, and Fire Walk With Me is an astonishing and brutal film.
I don't hate Lynch's Dune. The dialogue is awful but some of the visuals are stunning and Lynch's eccentricities come through to enliven the story (I'm afraid I gave up on the novel half-way through - it could have done with some of the colour Lynch brought to the film). |
