"For those of you who do used WhatsApp:
*** Make sure your number is NOT linked to any of your non fab social media ***
"
Better yet use telegram for those you have reservations about - and don't show number.
Save WhatsApp for the exceptional few who earned trust - or the odd weirdo for a bit of entertainment. |

I had a partner send me a rude picture on WA when I was in public once, it just appeared on my screen!
It's not always possible, but it really is best to just have one for sexy stuff I think. The other day I put my phone on and a rude pic was just there too - you have to be so careful at times!! |

Weirdly, a guy contacted me on WhatsApp today. Out of the blue and i havent spoken to him on WhatsApp before, but i do remember him from over a year ago on Fab. I dont use WhatsApp since i realised it shares everything with META, so fab contacts show up on Facebook.
I use Telegram to get access to a group that shares big discounts on Amazon, but i checked local groups recently to find they are filled with drug dealers and professional ladies of the night. Not the odd one or two, lots of them. Telegram is a ticking time bomb.
Signal is an excellent alternative, if only more people used it. |

The WhatsApp thing was in a privacy policy update they sneakily pushed through in early 2021. I didn't accept the update, so WhatsApp deactivated my account. Good riddance! Managed to get quite a few people on Signal - lost some groups too, but that's to be expected unfortunately.
I've never had Meta accounts but they still build a secret profile, and I didn't want my phone number to be associated with that. |

A friend put whatsapp on my phone for me after extolling its virtues. When I read the terms and conditions, I thought 'You must be effing joking, I'm not giving them that level of intrusion'. I never used it and for the last year or so it comes up every hour saying it's out of date. I really must delete it. I've only got it on one of my devices. Even the friend whose idea it was has long given up on me ever using it. We are still friends!
if it wasn't for needing one as an internet hub, I wouldn't even bother with a smartphone. All I ever need for messaging people is talk and text. Very occasionally I will use email for sharing pictures. Often I get no emails for a couple of days other than an obligatory sponsored one from the web mail supplier. As I've never opened one of those or clicked on any click bait, ever, the bots know that there is no point in targetting me.
Having lived a huge number of years without these modes, I can't get motivated by complexity at this late stage in my development! I get plenty of nookie through real life meets and having a better than average cock. Why would I bother with all these apps? |

Yes, I use WhatsApp (and Telegram) for both Fab and Family. They both coexist perfectly for me.
I would love to use Signal but no one else uses it and there's only so many messaging apps that I can handle.
Kik: I've had women ask me to move the chat from Fab to Kik. It's at that point I tell them "...we're no longer compatible". |

"Don't know why nobody uses Signal
Because nobody else does. Messaging apps aren’t a lot of use when there’s nobody to send messages to."
It's got 100mil plus downloads on the Google store alone |

That's why the MOD stopped using it, Telegram was the same, but worse! |

I think the issue was that they used their police issued phones to send the inappropriate messages. |

Beware of being referred to as 'chummie' by police, whether they are on or off duty. It doesn't usually bode well for the person being discussed. |

Police policies aside WhatsApp has 2 concerns. One is metadata. Meta's business is metadata. Who, how, where and when. The second is the messaging model. The message content is currently secure. It may not always be. |

Telegram can be both secure and insecure depending on how it's used. |

Signal is by far the most secure IM app out there. That's just fact (unless there is a lesser known and less popular one out there)
WhatsApp is generally the easier to use for most people. It's secure and generally safe enough, even if meta have you by the balls.
Telegram is safe too, it's just a bit more advanced in the way it works.
Kik is... Well kik. It's now nothing but a wretched hive of scum and villainy!

"Seems to be the go to chat app for many. Though second seems to be kik. Sometimes have been asked to use instagram. Yes have. But never give id out to chat. "
How if someone says only use whatsapp and you do not use . Do you then have no more contact with that profile.? |

A risk you have to take in this day and age.
I take the view that people who live their entire life looking at their phone are a poor choice to meet anyway so I won't be missing much! |

Just make sure to block contact sharing whatever app you use or one day poor Auntie Ethel is going to get a pic of you whacking your wang or hanging out the back of somebody elses missus.
Neither make for easy family gatherings. |

Most people need to take some care and use their options I think, especially if you went for a big slab of a phone like me (blessing and a curse it is). No point being snobby about apps surely, they're just a means to an end. Kik is fully of annoying ads these days granted, but you can effectively hide it (or something like it) and just look at it when you're ready. |

I've no idea what this means.

Snobby?
"...they're just a means to an end."
Yes, obviously, the practice is called "messaging". |

--You seem to think my whole post was to you! But yes of course re 'snobby' you did say, "I've had women ask me to move the chat from Fab to Kik. It's at that point I tell them "...we're no longer compatible".".
You say all this stuff so don't look at me! Most of it just passes by so you can't complain. Obvious or not, KIK etc are simply apps. And I'm actually quite careful and with nothing really to hide (I'm not a cheat for example), but in the past I've still been accidentally seen having rather-embarrassing pics sent to (or seemingly appearing-on when WA was on and open) my phone. It's just fair advice that's all. pt |
