He has sent them a good luck message as does his daughter Princess Charlotte but should he actually be there ?

The prime minister isn't going either, should he be there ?

If it was the men playing do you think they would be there ?

To be fair, every time a royal attends we lose, call it an omen but maybe it's good luck not too, plus flying to other side of the world at short notice?

He visited them before they flew out. He has sent them a personal public message of support with his daughter. It is one hell of a trip to Australia and back for one football game.

I am quite surprised he's not going, to be fair - he is President of the FA and this is our first global final since 1966. As they say, the optics are not good.

But at the same time, if he doesn't want to, that's fine too - though I'd have thought he'd want to be there. I'd have happily snapped up an all expenses paid trip!

"He visited them before they flew out. He has sent them a personal public message of support with his daughter. It is one hell of a trip to Australia and back for one football game."

You can already see the headlines, highlighting the exact costs of flying the next in line to the throne to the other side of the world at short notice for one football match.

This is assuming he could go anyway without breaking previously agreed commitments.

"We don't know what else is going on in his home life or working life. The man can't be in two places at once."

This is also a good point. We don't know what else would have been cancelled to get him to Oz - some equally deserving events would have missed out.

The family thing I put less by. It's not a regular 9-5 job where he gets weekends off.

Simple answer - yes. Guarantee he’ll be there when England make the mens World Cup final in 2026 (never too early to start the optimism)

Yes, it’s a long flight to Australia, but he’s not exactly going to be licking his knees in his economy seat is he? Or standing in queues for 2 hours to get a luke warm pint of over priced Carling at the bar.

He’s President of the FA and, while I’m not a royalist at all, he is representative of the head of state. He should he there.

I’d imagine William has more than one diary. One for when he’s Prince of Walesing. One for when his having trysts with Rose Hanbury. One for being President of The FA. He’s been President since 2006, it’s not like he hasn’t had any notice of possible finals England may reach.
