The RSPCA claim that 1000 dogs have had their ears illegally cropped in the last three years. How they get their figures we don't know. Ear cropping is a cosmetic procedure that does not benefit the dog and is more common in aggressive dog breeds like bull dogs and dobermans. It tends to make the dog ears look like horns which is probably where the term Devil Dog originated.
Tom is curious what happens to the ears. That's 2000 ears in three years and you never see them advertised anywhere. Although so called dog experts claim there are no health benefits there are counterclaims that it can improve their eyesight. What's going on here guys. It's all over the news... |

Our daughter has a rescue dog with cropped ears. She is most lovely loving dog you could hope for. Really beautiful peaceful temperament, especially when you consider her terrible start in life. The two of them are the perfect pairing. The trouble is our daughter will be walking her dog in the streets and people will tut and say horrible things to are daughter. Which doesn't help when our daughter has her own mental health problems. Its good so many people are against it but people don't stop to think before they judge and speak. The extra publicity is on the whole a good thing but with probably make life harder for our daughter and her dog when it's neither of their fault. |

I don’t think cropped ears are promoted whatsoever by the Kennel Club, they banned docking tails years ago, I doubt very much they promote the cropping of ears |

This shocking and disgusting behavior really turns my stomach. Illegal in the UK to crop ears...it has NO benefit to the dog what soever and in fact can cause ear infections. Pit bulls and the XL Bully's are usually the ones with them cropped...cruel and barbaric when you think some people do it them self's with out proper training, correct equipment or pain relief for the puppy. I suspect the cut off ears are burnt Tom. Humans are the most cruel beings. |

"People who mutilate dogs in any way should be prosecuted "
100% agree. It marks out the unfit dog owners straight away. Dogs aren't fashion accessories to be altered to look tough with stubby ears .. |

Exactly! Yet there are so very many threads on FB/Youtube etc that show dogs and even puppies having their ears docked to make them look “hard and vicious”, personally I think it revolting that vets in other countries will still do this to them |
