"I'm worried what the other 40% is
Gnu probably...
so thats the end of the Gnu's.... and now for the weather.... "
and finally...
Instead of testing the genetic heritage of what gets minced mixed and mashed up, I'd be tempted to get it carbon dated as it's probably been languishing in a deep freeze for a while too.. it probably is shergar, a few other 250-1 shots and the odd skeggy donkey.
Check out the frozen mince market, and even the value mince market - they've been mixing mutton and other 'older' meats in with it for some time now. Granted you probably find the cows walked though the mixture that makes a street stall hot dog and burger stand, but even so it's time the whole lot was named and shamed as taking chances with the general public's health by feeding them what amounts virtually to petfood.

I love it when it finally comes to light what crap ends up in processed food and ready meals. People have become too lazy to prepare their own meals from scratch...better for you, more tasty, cheaper and at least you have more of an idea of what you're eating!....sorry complete food snob here!

"60% of meat in Findus lasagne is horse meat FFs what next"
being serious for a moment...
1) so glad i am allergic to cheese.... lasagne isn't something I would eat...
2) if it is being labelled as beef lasagne, at it contains 60-100% horse meat...wouldn't it be at best case "fraud" and at worst case something more sinister....
p.s tesco are now reportingly testing there own brand "everyday value" spag bol...... this thing is spreading... |

"Does it really matter meat is meat they shoukd label the stuff to say horsemeat included or give it away."
tend to agree, people are increasingly having to resort to food banks..
throwing perfectly good food away would be wrong.. |

no, I said we have MORE of an idea...we're never going to know completely" but how do you have more idea you can only read what it says on the packet and as for fresh meats we all know chicken is full of water to bulk it up, as much as we all like to think cooking from scratch unles you grow all your own produce in the garden we ain't got no idea what we are eating these days |

We do employ a "FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY" just wonder if its actually working or just collecting the pay check.
The simple answer is stop imports of meat from the EU.
We have more than enough of our own, so let them sort the mess out.
They did not hesitate for a minute to ban ours over Foot & Mouth. |

yes, even the basics of regular spot checks for quality control seem to have been forgotten..
for how long and what else for..?" I do know that Findus did have inspectors in daily to carry out checks on all meats delivered daily and that if any were delivered through the night they were put in to quarantine until passed |

Did anyone watch the BBC3 show called really disgusting foods a few years back?. A comedian basically tried to legally get away with producing meat products with the lowest meat content(think it was 10%). After i watched that, nothing really surprises me what sort of crap food companies put in some the food they sell.

"why can't they just say horse is in it? I'll still eat it
"
trying to find an answer.... the best answer I have so far is that you can eat horse... however from the piece on the guardian website at the moment:
"The Findus products have not yet been tested for the presence of the horse drug, phenylbutazone, which is banned in human food, and so the Food Standards Agency is unable to declare them safe." |

..it means valuable jobs in Grimbarian, which is more than there will be if they don't get their shit together and sort this mess out - but then along with the rest of the supermarkets - 'they're all in this together'

It's not just the fact that it's horse meat, it's where that meat has been sourced from. Meat for human consumption is regulated as to what can be fed to them, what drugs and chemicals can be given to them. |

General public should be more considered about what they consume. (General opinion) |
