What meal did your parents make that you loved and still love now?

.

I'll go first. 'Flesk' - it's fried bacon with a sauce made from all the bacon fat, flour, milk and salt. Served with veg.

It is absolutely delicious but she only makes it once in a blue moon due to the time it takes frying all the bacon. (there's usually 15+ of us because we all love it so much)

Jerk salmon with rice and peas and dumplings. So so good. Oh and with a side of macaroni cheese!

My mum makes the best sfogliatelle - only really on special occasions but it was delicious. I loved those little nods to my eclectic heritage meals the most, they'd normally be accompanied with tales of how their parents cooked them or stories of their time in those places.

I have never heard of Mother's Pride bread before. This forum really does keep me feeling youthful.

I thought it was a Glasgow thing but I’m reliably informed it was from the North West. Still the Glasgow version was a key component of another Glaswegian staple, the “Jeely Piece” !

Stovies! My absolute favourite, which I have absolutely no idea how to make. I've googled the recipe but everyone has there own version and none of them look right to me.

Sunday Roast, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, cauliflower and loads of thick gravy....

VERY similar to those in a Toby Carvery.

My mum used to make a plate meat pie, I can't make it the same and none I've tried in cafes or pubs have been as good.

I still have the pyrex plates which mum got in the 1970s.

The other meal was a loose potato pie with separate crust.
