It's not so binary for me.
Op, there are women who are attracted to "dadbods". Those who prefer more "muscular". And those who don't give that much of a fuck and it depends on the person.
I'm the latter category. |

Sorry but that’s not acceptable. Men think in terms of football or Top Trumps; one thing beats another. We need definitions - who’s got time for nuance and, y’know, being thoughtful |

I'm really muscular and defined with rock hard abs.
Unfortunately I wear a layer of insulation on top of it.
Still I've given up being a self obsessed narcissist paranoid about my body fat % as long as I'm healthy and happy don't smell and myself genuinely if women don't like the way I look it is what it is.

Obsession can often be what weak people call dedication.

Ooh, I’m not sure I like the sound of this at all
The other advantage of choosing one or the other is that we can tell ourselves it’s the reason we’re not knee-deep in moist minge 24/7.
“Ah, I would be, but I’m unfortunately blessed with big bones” is much easier than “Ah, I would be, but unfortunately I’ve got a personality as attractive as an evasive politician.”

So because someone goes to the gym to keep in the best shape they can and fight off middle age flab it makes them a self obsessed narcissist?
Do you care to explain this train of thought? |

It's never as clear cut as that, since each of what you describe can have a small dick and not have the stamina to go a good few hrs, sense of humour, intellect, etc.
Have been fortunate to meet some lovely peeps from all categories in order for us to have an amazing time.

As I get older it’s definitely harder to maintain what I had, but being an involved dad and not having the physique to match is no bad thing.
Where we may lose our shape, we gain in experience, patience, empathy and intellect, all traits of being a parent and all epic..
Be you and be the best you can be.. s’all good.

Or that you’re perhaps interested in the gym/sport etc and it’s a hobby?
What if you’re a PTI for your job? Are you too a narcissist? |

Have to give credit where it's due though, example: I was standing in a big que at supermarket and infront of me was this guy who was wearing shorts and t-shirt. Could see his legs were spectacularly well defined, toned and cut with muscle definition. I had to compliment him, saying wow you are a good advert for a gym with that bod. This triggered a conversation and he turned out to be one of the nicest guy I spoke to on day, very humble and told me his routine, family man, with children, etc. Even lifted up his t-shirt for me to show me his abs. and pics. of his loved ones. What I'm trying to say is he showed a great level of dedication into getting where he wanted to be and still maintained to have a level of decency about him. Not all are egosists.
Not easy to achieve body perfection and still maintain to be humble beautiful human being (man or woman).
Personally, I do luv a fit bod.
Esp. when they've plenty stamina when it comes to sex.

Lol have you spent much time in the gym or around gym types.
In my small amount of experience which is using the gym for about 40years most (not all)
Spend more time looking in the mirror than actually working out and nowadays spend more time taking selfies and posting on insta.
If that isn't narcissistic behaviour then please tell me what is?
Keeping fit and healthy
Being consumed with body fat % and appearance
Thumb's down.
Would you rather have sex with someone who is healthy and happy and attentive to your needs
Or a ripped six pack wielding hunk who spends the entire time checking himself out in the mirror almost oblivious to your presence?

Pfffttt
I've dedicated my entire adult life to the pursuit of health and fitness I know what dedication is working full time and training 25hrs a week on top.
I have known many professional sports men and women including world record holder's and gold medal winning Olympians.
I have also known many people who have dedicated their lives in the pursuit of physical perfection in appearance and trust me the latter are nearly always narcissistic,it goes with the territory.
But if they are happy doing that it's their lives.
I'm not disputing that.
I'm just saying from my experience certain gym types are narcissistic.
And if we are going down the road of being judgemental I can tell you for a fact, ripped up roid enthusiasts judge everyone by their high standards.
I'm glad to be out of it and healthy but overweight.

Every dad has a dad bod.
Some are more toned and some not.
You have a choice. Be happy with what you have or work to change it. And the motivation for that should come from you, not to please others. I've lost a lot of weight this month but having taken a few new snaps yesterday I'm happy with how I look now, more than a few weeks ago. I didn't go about it the right or best way, but I'm now keen not to put back on the weight I've lost.
No more binging on cake, ice cream and haribos for me.

Beats me why some men feel the need to put others down. Ok so some are gym rats and love what they do. Yeah they look in the mirror, checking form maybe? Perhaps they compete and are practicing posing which btw it really hard. Even if they are just checking themselves out, so what, they have worked bloody hard to achieve it so why not admire it? If those slating spent less time on what others do in the gym and focused more on what they themselves are doing they might see more gains |

My favourite people have dad bods. But I don't think it would matter if they were muscley adonises or beanpoles or morbidly obese. They'd still be the amazing people they are regardless of their bodies |

If those slating spent less time on what others do in the gym and focused more on what they themselves are doing they might see more gains "
I think it comes from both sides
Not just people that don’t train calling gym goers. But also gym goers calling others lazy.
I think it’s down to the individual at that point arrogance can be in many form. Not just on appearance.
I don’t go to the gym. Only because the times of the day I can train is stupidly busy.
So I run, walk lots, climb and luckily have a very demanding physical job. And regularly lifting weights 25kg - 90kg so I guess I lift at work.
I can see how people become really into it though. Training releases great endorphins and even though you’re training hard, afterwards you feel great.

While physical attraction works at first, it is not so much the body as who lives in it that matters.
Personally, I am happy enough with how I look and dont best myself up too much over it.

I agree and I was talking about those who attend gyms and slate other members, I just dont get it. I did weights for almost 40yrs and got nothing but respect, support and great advice from the bigger guys. You're also correct that you dont have to go to a gym to build as you perfectly illustrate. I just dont feel that a mans size and definition dictates his personality. I mean, some might look at you and dismiss you as the type that's been talked about on this thread but you're actually a kind, gentle man who apparently gives great hugs |

To be fair your comment blanketing all gym goers as Narcissistic is pretty rude. Yet you’re taking it personally when people pull you up in it.

Unfortunately I wear a layer of insulation on top of it.
Still I've given up being a self obsessed narcissist paranoid about my body fat % as long as I'm healthy and happy don't smell and myself genuinely if women don't like the way I look it is what it is.
"
This is an awful attitude to have. Do you genuinely believe that people in good physical fitness are “self obsessed narcissists” ? That’s very judgemental |

From someone who's scared of the gym, my new way of thinking is if I go gym hunk they might show me how to use the gym "
Don’t be scared, you will be offered an induction and most have PTI sessions to help you settle in. A good gym will offer a few free sessions to help you find your feet. |

The funny thing is from experience I see more woman, being obsessed with self reflection in gyms and gym culture these days then men, wearing tight Spandex looking outfits that are more ideal for their Instagram followers, than they are for for actually working out.
This is why I prefer natural women, and not gym bunnies, because gym culture has gotten so bad these days, because I feel most women on the gym these days are doing it more for attention and insta numbers than actually for self improvement. Every day is glute day for them. |

So because someone goes to the gym to keep in the best shape they can and fight off middle age flab it makes them a self obsessed narcissist?
Do you care to explain this train of thought?
" you're going to that type of gym because the gym I train no one does that |

I love these threads, women tend to favour the dad bod style and can at times think guys that go to the gym etc are up themselves.
Guys with dad bods, at times can think they are unattractive, think women prefer toned men and can get down about themselves.
Guys who train and have a muscle/ toned body can at times be up themselves but on the most part be just as decent as anyone else. The ones that are up themselves get confused as to how dad bod guys get more success.
The answer to it all is simple, be yourself, embrace others and accept that we all like different things |

"Whats your preference ?"
I'd rather some muscle but have been blesssed with a dadbod! Thank God that everyone doesn't like the same thing. It also kinda depends on the person, a little bit. As I have got older, I find it easier to find attractive features in other people's bodies, as I hope they do in mine. |
