Do you have a play list of music or a film that reflects your mood, or can a piece of music you hear on the radio take you back to a place of happiness or not?

Sunshine on Leith can literally make me tear up

Supermarket Flowers also but for so many reasons

Status Quo had me tapping my feet the other day

Leeds

I have so many playlists for my moods.

A chilled relaxing one.

A daily one (country)

A happy cheesy 90's pop that I'll dance to in the kitchen.

An indie one.

A sad one.

An oldies one of all the songs I take off my playlist when I get bored of them.

My playlist - Dancehall

New bangers - UK grime/rap

Old skool - 90s hip hop and ragga

Chill - reggae (mostly Beres Hammond)

Today feels very Rage against the machine, linkin park, foo’s so far.

If the sun comes out I may branch into something more Blur, semisonic, courteener’ish.

I like music with character and that ends up such a mesh that I have to split it into different playlists. Some of mine:

Moonshiners (good for meals, drinks, and bbqs): Chris Stapleton, Miranda lambert, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Tyler Childers etc

Skate punk (good for driving - makes you go fast!): distillers, rise against, Gob, Dropkick Murphys etc

Musica dei consiglieri (for when you want to feel like a mafioso): Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Nina Simone, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett etc

80s cheddar (I’ve got a few decades ones, my kids like this one): Fine young cannibals, Corey hart, Kim Wilde, Queen etc

I find that most modern music fits into an older category (eg alec Benjamin goes in folk) but does anyone else feel like music has lost a lot of character? I don’t feel like it’s used to make a statement so much these days. People seem so keen to fit in that nobody really stands out. The only exceptions I can think of are grime and billie eilish

Anyone care to restore my faith?
