When I worked from home years before it became a thing I was obsessed with keeping my keyboard clean.
It was a chunky key one on a PC, not a laptop and I kept the cover on it.
It was in my home office room and no one else used it.
Years later I got a laptop for admin and couldn't care less.
I even let the screen get dirty as they're so cheap to replace.
I don't lick my fingers after using it though as I lend it out.

Did you see that australian worker who was fired because the company she worked for used keyboard technology to workout how much time she was on the keyboard during her working day, technology such a wonderful thing  |

I wipe mine down weekly too but just tapped it on the desk for the first time in a while today and well...  |

A friend of mine had a keyboard that was so nasty that I had to use hot soapy water on it. Removed all the keycaps, unscrewed the case, lifted out the circuit board. All the non-electric bits in the hot water for a good long soak and a scrub; drained out the disgusting soup that the water had turned into, acceptably clean after a couple of rinses...
Soft brush to get bits off the circuit board, then alcohol wipes for the baked on slime. More alcohol wipes to sanitise the cable.
Reassembled the whole thing, all the keys now working without crunching noises... Returned to owner after carefully randomising all the keycaps |

My work keyboard (at my actual office desk) is abnsolutely gross - I inherited it when I started about 10 years ago and it was gross and I haven't cleaned it since! |
