Well today is on the up... I have just been offered an inter_iew for tomorrow morning at 10am that I was hoping for.... The problem is I should be at work and the inter_iew is at least a half hour job away.... Any ideas how I can do this as I really need out of the job that I'm in |

"Sounds like a sickie is in order. Not a problem if you hate the job your in. Even better if your confident on getting the new job
Good luck with it"
I've had a week off sick two weeks ago as really was sick and this is one of the main reasons for the change in jobs.
I'm debating just being honest with my employer x |

Take a risk, phone in sick and go for the inter_iew. What's the worst that can happen?
You don't get the new job and your current employer gives you a reprimand (after proving you were sick of course, which they can't).
Best case scenario is that you get the new job and they ask you to start straight away. To hell with your current employer.
Good luck. |

If you feel secure in your current job then honesty may be best policy. If they don't want to lose you then it may prompt them to improve your conditions. |

If I am right, the employment law give you the right to attend a job inter_iew as long as you tell your current employer without facing any trouble
Maybe I amwrong, let me double check again as it is fully allow in France and you can't be subject to any kind of harrassment or bully for letting your boss know that you maybe looking for another job |

In practice it will be markedly different. Tribunals are notoriously difficult to win. |

That is very short notice for an inter_iew if you have only just received it. I would explain to them you cannot honestly skip out of work without taking a days holiday or offer to come after work. Any sort of employer worth working for will appreciate commitment to a position you hold and as they would want equally the same commitment they will rearrange. |

Not if you are in the right you are not! Tribunals listen to the evidence and make judgement on that, its not a matter of being biased to one side and those who loose a tribunal invariably are in the wrong. |

They offered me the inter_iew on Monday but I couldn't get out of work... They then said that they would come back to me once the current inter_iews had taken place... I don't want to miss out |

Can you not say you have over slept and will stay on late or do you have any niece/nephew's you could say that there has been a collapse of childcare and you are helping out. |

I was honest with a previous employer and with a manager I got on well with. On casually asking me why I wanted a holiday .. with 2 weeks notice I told him I had an inter_iew and thought nothing of it.
Next thing, my duties were shuffled off to other people leaving me with fuck all to do. Asking why, he said I was a risk to the business and that I didnt appear to want responsibility.
Ended with me not getting that job but leaving after a years battle of doing nothing and getting 'shit canned' I think is the phrase lol |

I get on reasonably well with my managing director, however not sure I should tell her due to me having enough of the way I'm being treated.
Not really worried about my tasks being passed to others as this would be a massive weight off my shoulders, just worried ill be out of a job |

Have it on text... She says it is fine for me to come in after the inter_iew. They know I'm not happy but now I wish I had more time to prepare for the actual inter_iew x |

You don't need time to prepare or get ready for any inter_iew. You start your next job inter_iew the day you sign aa contract for a any job. What is good is to get your resignation letter ready from the day you start a new job as the real happiness on job market is to be able to change job. But saddly the reality is something else now that there is no jobs
Go for the inter_iew,do you best and who know...good luck |

Wow, this thread has been a real eyeopener! The level of ingratitude and deceipt shown to employers is staggering. Were's your loyalty and respect to someone who is currently paying your wages. |

Ok, not sure how much good this will be to you but I've in my 2nd week of a new job - I was so nervous before inter_iews - I had a telephone inter_iew out of the blue and passed it - I'd failed quite a few before when I'd over analysed myself and surrounded by all the paperwork with the 'correct' answers. I had very little time to prepare for the meet and greet inter_iew - passed it - and then the next day was my one to one inter_iew - again passed it. My OH had told me to just be myself and not think about what I thought they wanted to hear but what I knew. It works - if you know you can do the job they are inter_iewing then go in with confidence and just be honest - if you don't know something then just say - don't waffle.
But most of all relax |

I have... Well have now after a long hard think... And I am only looking at a new job due to the way the company is treating me... So I don't see why I should have loyalty x |

Thank you for this, I'm really nervous however have done a similar job for the past six years, and am currently in a higher position than what I have applied for. I'm just hoping the realise I'm honest and that I'm not just looking for a stop gap x |

Ingratitude? I have lost count of the number of employers i have worked damn hard for who have said "if you don't like it the door is there, don't let it hit you on the arse on the way out". You only work for someone as a means of paying the bills, the days of loyalty to one's employees never occurred in this millenium. Workers have been sacked by telephone, text, fax and e-mail. I was once sacked by letter the day after I went away on holiday and it was 2nd class stamp on the envelope, so it was posted 2 days before it landed on my doormat. If all employees were happy with their job and the boss then they would not look for other employment elsewhere. |

Ok, maybe we still do have loyalty to the company, but its not always that easy to approach the subject with an employer. Especially if its a close office and your friends.
Have you ever changed jobs? how did you deal with having an inter_iew?? |

Guess it just boils down to your own moral fortitude, being a bad employer, with no thought or care for those who dilligently go about their business, helping to run your business, is equally appalling, but doesn't mean you have to compromise your own standards of behaviour. Rise above it and move on, those who strive to excel will succeed ! |
