My McAfee has expired and I need some new protection but don't really want to pay a fortune.
I know malware has been suggested on here, would that be sufficient?
Any suggestions/recommendations/advice gratefully received.  |

I used Avast before switching to Panda. I found it to be memory hungry and it took ages for the PC to load on startup because it was still loading Avast. |

I do have a fairly basic lappy which doesn't have oodles of memory. |

if u dont have much RAM go avira or panda. got no experience with panda but used avira loads on low end machines
and id think about chucking some more memory/ram in ur lappy. its the easiest upgrade u can do  |

I use more than one - only one resident (permanently running) but different progs have different abilities...
I have Avira for permanent (bit of a resource hog but it's really good), Malware Bytes I scan with regularly for malware/spyware and SAS for unwanted cookies/adware.
For scanning individual files, you can't beat Virus Total I think ... you upload the file to their website, and it tells you what all the major AV programs say about it. |
