It's certainly a lot of money for something to hang on a nail above the mantelpiece.

I hope it matches their curtains …

Or they could always break the colour scheme up with scatter cushions and a few silk flowers...

A lot of the admiration for both modern art and a lot of artists is beyond me.

I can admire someone like Constable who paints landscape in such detail and for the life of me I couldn't paint a tree.

But I could easily paint matchstick men ( lowry) , people with square heads ( picasso), or tables with one leg shorter than the other three (van goth).

Am I a philistine ?

No not a philstine at all ....

I totally get what you mean and the talent of someone who can reproduce the image of scene in a manner that is almost photographic is undoubtedly astonishingly ….

Personally I prefer art created through the eyes of imagination…

little house on the praire

Nothing materialistic in my opinion is worth anything like that amount of money. Generally im not a materialistic person. Yes i like nice things but they dont have to cost alot of money. IF i wanted a nice painting i might pay up to about £500 for it and then it would be because i liked the painting and nothing to do with the artist
